At $25k annual premiums, it ain’t free — in fact, very far from free.
“its authors cited three overarching goals: to improve access to health care, to slow rising medical costs and to improve health outcomes.”
...uh...no. The overarching goals were to control health= control the people. Or lack thereof I should say.
I am very thankful for Obamacare. I was one of the few that could not get insurance..and would have been royally screwed with what came next for me in my health journey
Just finding out you have a very rare auto antibody took many many thousands of dollars.
Quest Lab does not provide discounts to people who dont have insurance. I had a test from Mayo that was almost $2000. The insurance company knocked it down 50%...but without insurance it would have been $2000 because it was done through Quest. Just an example.
For those that don’t want to buy Obamacare there is the Christian health ministry plans. I use one to cover my deductible. They have never denied a claim.
Ultalabs is running a sale on labs. I pay for them myself rather than fight with Doctors to get certain tests.
If I could get the insurance company contracted rate for everything I might be willing to get a $10,000 deductible policy for catastrophic illness, but the government in their infinite wisdom says no, I cannot get that policy. Instead I must get one where I pay the insurance company to handle wellness visits.
I hope you're also very thankful for the sky-high premiums and penalties which have resulted from it. A coworker was unwittingly hit with a $7,000 tax bill for not having "sufficient" insurance coverage. Ironically, he was a democrat.
And, if you're a man, you get to pay for hysterectomies, sex-change surgeries, $25k-per-year HIV/AIDS treatments and a host of other completely unnecessary procedures which don't, and probably will never, apply to you.
Better than being on the hook for $175k and counting....
Obamacare doesnt fit everyone..but it fits me.
If I was healthy and young I wouldn’t want it.
The Christian Health Ministries are a good option but I just didn’t trust them to pay big payouts like a $100k surgery..and they don’t pay a million dollars for someone in a car accident in a coma
I’m glad you got what you needed from the programs, but it’s causing a lot of pain in others.
Most people I know who resorted to O-care couldn’t afford to make a claim on needed medical care because of the high co-pays. It was like they were without insurance at all.
the amount of discounts is shocking to me.
I need a brain MRI. My insurance won’t approve it but if they did the discount is huge. Cash pay would not even come close unless you are under the federal poverty line.
BUT if you search around there are sometimes groups that do discounted MRIs. Like $299 with no contract but it is a 1T machine. I found someone with a 3t machine that does it for $600. But it won’t count towards my deductible.
For $200 bucks a month you can get Christian Health Ministries gold plan. They cover just about everything but the incident has to be $500 before discounts. A Drs visit and blood test just about gets you to that amount. The incident $$ amount can cover multiple dates
They even cover what Obamacare doesn’t . PRP injections
But given time, I think the left would have even abolished these ministries - by force.
I used fubocare..
Last year my policy went up almost 500 bucks...
I called the provider direct..
Got the exact same policy...
600 bucks a month LESS than fubocare
“Free” - that should be in quotes, for realz.
But this will get repealed when repubs take over in 22 right?.....
Some got the Obamacare over others losing their insurance. My premium doubled after it passed and couldn’t afford it, so I had to drop it.
Not without veto-proof majorities. And even then....
It all depends on whose ox is gored.
Thanks for outing yourself, Rummy, as one who is okay with the government forcing others to pay the costs of your illness.
Please don’t be inconsistent now and complain about taxes being too high, etc.
I got stuck right there. Congress better stop making goals for their programs. They NEVER meet their goals. The vast majority of time they make matters worse.
I have never been against providing for those that fit into the group that can’t get insurance. The reason I couldn’t get it? I had sleep apnea. No one would insure me. So I used short term health coverage until Obamacare came along.
I have absolutely no doubt that I am better of with Obamacare than short term health insurance.
But I recognize most here can’t fathom the thought of what it is like to not be able to get insurance and be at risk for what is coming down the pike..like surgeries, cancer, and very rare autoantibody that science doesn’t even really understand.
