AFP is reporting that an exchange of gunfire has been observed as dozens or possibly hundreds of supporters riot, with police using riot control measures like water cannons to repel an attack on the Green Zone. Why bring a water cannon to a gunfight?? Wouldn't an "exchange" of gunfire mean that both sides were using firearms? Can any news reporters write clearly anymore?

Cut the head off the snake. If the assets have never found a superior alternative to Sadr, all the more reason to eliminate him, and then insert invisible hand in the reshuffle.

There are material reasons why so few Arab nations have a democratic form of government, and why Dubya was a bonehead for trying to force-feed democracy to the Iraqis.

I thought young Muktada El Sadir had joined forces with Ali Sistani and became the dynamic duo of spiritual leaders, fighting Iranian influence. So much for that idea.

All we managed to do in Iraq was switch the rulers from Sunni/Bathist/Saddam to the Shiites, who are aligned with the Shiite Iranians.
