German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said that targets set by the government for the filling of gas storage facilities had been reached ahead of schedule, staving off the worst fears of severe gas shortages this winter.
"The reservoirs are filling up quicker than planned," he told German magazine Der Spiegel according to a report published on Sunday.
The government target of reaching 85% storage capacity by October could be achieved by the beginning of September, according to Habeck's ministry.
Germany is currently trying to secure alternative sources of gas to prevent an acute shortage during the cold winter months, as it tries to wean itself off Russian fuel following the invasion of Ukraine.

I believe that storage is 82% full already, and that they have been injecting about 1/2 of a percent of capacity per day, despite the slowdown of Nordstream.
“Russian gas now accounts for less than 10% of Germany’s consumption.”
Wow!
Super job!
Well ahead of schedule.
A lot of people here have already cut their energy use. First thing I did long ago was to unplug the toaster, cleaned and stored it away. Even though we love toasted bread and stuff no one ever complained.
how many months supply is 100%?
As German energy prices continue to surge.
As German food prices continue to surge.
As Germany moves closer and closer to rationing.
As Germany is arguably in recession.
If one is not in Hell, one is certainly knocking on its door.
Karma is real as is reaping what thou hast sown.
Winter is coming.
Yeah super job! Only having to pay 10x as much as before and letting Putin get even more $ from what he is selling, despite selling a lot less. That’ll show him!
Take 2-3 large wheat biscuits, pour boiling water over them. Press out the water, and put a few pats of butter on top. Goes great with coffee or juice.
It's not nearly as tasty as the delicacy served up by my lady friend in Lutjenburg, when I was TDY at Todendorf during the summer of 79. I don't know the correct name, I called it zweibelrost, basically raw ground beef with onion seasoning. Spread on toast, it also went great with coffee.
We only know the truth on this when winter hits.
You should never eat raw or rare ground beef.

This might be fitting? ;-)

Hopefully there will be enough firewood to go around.

Weather gets a vote. Big difference between a once in a hundred year warm Winter, and a once in a hundred year cold one.
“how many months supply is 100%?
If I recall correctly, the 95% storage target is the equivalent of 2 1/2 months worth of peak Winter use.
So they still need some continued supply through the Winter.
If the numbers I’ve heard are correct, storage at capacity will only account for about 12% of typical German consumption over the winter. Frankly that number seems high to me, but then again I’ve never lived in a country which has to import gas.
Who but green freak finds having to do that or give up hot showers acceptable all to allegedly stick to Putin?
If you think people are going to have their quality of life diminished so rich globalists a-holes like Klaus Schwab and George Soros can gain more power and continue to fight a proxy war with Russia, you're nuts.
The war in Ukraine isn't worth a dollar increase in my gas bill and any Republican that continues to support the sanction war with Russia or wasting more tax dollars in Ukraine needs to be cleansed from the party.
Rather than people of Germany, Europe or the US suffering of this nonsense, people like you need to be the ones to sacrifice by getting your ass over to Ukraine and fighting the eviiiil Russians yourself.
Are you a prepper at all? You may still want to take some ‘what if’ preparations.
Keep in mind you can always burn the furniture to keep warm.
