Judge spares man from prison and hands out probation for 2019 criminal offenses [Convicted armed robber gets zero jail time in Ocala, Florida]

Facing Circuit Judge Peter Brigham, 25-year-old Kenvonte Lamar Daniel was asked why he should remain a free man?

Daniel told the judge he has learned his lesson, has a family, is employed, wasn't trying to hurt anyone and his troubles have opened his eyes that he has to do better.

"I'm trying to better myself. I want to be with my family," Daniel said.

In 2019, Daniel and Darryn Lake were charged with robbing a man by law enforcement officials.

Lake went to trial and was found guilty by a jury of robbery with a firearm and burglary of a conveyance while armed three months ago. A year younger than Daniel, Lake is at the Marion County Jail awaiting his sentence

Ocala defense lawyer James Tarquin told the judge that Daniel is married, a father of two children, has a CDL license and has a working contract with a company. Tarquin said Daniel agreed to testify against Lake and his testimony was instrumental to the prosecution.

Assistant State Attorney Janine Nixon, who was not the original prosecutor assigned to the case, told the court Friday that she didn't have a sentence recommendation.

In the three years since his release on a $77,000 bond, Tarquin said Daniel has not been in any trouble and is remorseful for his participation.

At the podium, Daniel told the judge because of his charges, he was unable to find work so he got his CDL license.

A few weeks ago, one Zi’Quavious Jkwon La’Travis Caldwell was arrested in SC for killing one of his homeboys. With a name like that, he’ll probably get off too.

30-50 years ago recidivism was a common subject, the stats were shown often and lowering recidivism was touted as an important goal.

Now, neither the justice system nor the media seems to mention it. Maybe I’ve just missed all the articles.

I hope the offender makes the most of the opportunity the judge gave him.

He will. He will use the opportunity and freedom to (a) rob (b) rape (c) murder or (d) all of the above.

Back in my old precinct the homies had names like Yogi Leonardo Washington and Epluribus Thomas. Good, solid American names.

All the while, political prisoners of the democrat party are rotting in prison right now and without a trial.
