I was trying to make the point that “Caucasian” wasn’t the right standard, given that Mexicans can be Caucasian. They aren’t all Indians, and Hispanic or Latino isn’t a race. I could also have said that Black people (and Spanish-speaking mestizos) have been here about as long as “Caucasians.”
I find it ironic that a lot of Mexican (Hispanic) legacy individuals bristle at the mere suggestion of an insult to their heritage.
One where they speak the language of former conquerors and are also described with a “Latin” catch-all - a name for a dead language/civilization....
