I think it’s everywhere and every sport. From gymnastics to golf to swimming to cheerleading. On and on. Years ago, our family lived in Nebraska. We boarded our two horses at a nearby stables where they gave riding lessons and prepared young riders to show. A flawlessly beautiful 14 year old female rider and student was seduced by the owner and his partner. The two men were in their 20’s. Evidently the more they touched her, the crazier they became. They had their way with the child in their office for an hour. It didn’t take long for word to get out. There was more sorrow, regret, angst, begging, and everything else than you could shake a stick at…to include paying the price. They did that long ago. Paid the price without video tape evidence. The futures of three young people changed forever. You scratch your head. And then there’s Hunter Biden of course.

That is true of many crimes. Have you ever heard of federalism? So, you are admitting you didn't think Roe v. Wade? If you are ignorant of the United States amd it's onstition, you probably shouldn't be on this site.

You do not belong on FR. Diversity of opinion is permitted here, even when we find it distasteful.
Let's wait for the facts to be revealed.

“If she was extremely drunk she couldn’t give consent. So that kind of destroys your theory.”
Bullcrap. You are buying into feminist theory. By that standard half the sex in America is non-consentual. Secondly, males are held fully accountable for decisions they make when they are drunk.
Also, last time I checked drunk people are expected to decide not to drive a car. The more drunk you are the more serious the crime.
So if they cannot legally make a decision, why would you hold them criminally accountable.

While the legal process plays outRape is a crime. It appears that the criminal portion of this process has already played itself out.

Did you come to that conclusion from reading the article or comments on the thread ?
According to the posted article, Araiza has a criminal attorney representing him on “a potential criminal case. “A day after the party, Doe reported the alleged rape to San Diego police” and while no arrests have been made (yet), nor charges filed (yet), the district attorney’s office has the police report and will determine whether charges will be filed in the gang rape of the high school student by the football players.

No, I’m not buying into feminist theory. I’m stating what the law says regarding consent. I’m not saying I agree with it. I’m stating what the legal standard is. How it is interpreted and applied is a slightly different matter.

You have already been corrected on that. The law does not say that intoxication means you cannot consent or make decisions you are legally responsible for.

So, where is the police report? She said three guys made forced entry for over an hour and she goes home and waits a year?
The time between a police "report" and an actual decision to prosecute can be extremely slow for both the alleged "victim" and "accused". Excruciatingly slow. The prosecutor isn't going to decide to charge until he feels he has all the i's dotted and t's crossed to secure a conviction.
A day after the party, Doe reported the alleged rape to San Diego police, who opened an investigation. No arrests have been made and the suspects had not been publicly identified, but detectives recently submitted their findings to the district attorney's office to determine whether charges should be filed.
I'm withholding judgement at this point. And I NEVER trust the media let alone ESPN. But if they're correct that she went to the police the next day, that knocks the "she waited until he got drafted into the NFL" argument back.

Did you come to that conclusion from reading the article or comments on the thread ?I base my conclusion on the fact that the police and DA looked at this and took no action after a year. What do you base your conclusion on?

Will the NFL protect him as much as a black player like Watson?

Agreed. I still have an "innocent until proven guilty" bar that they'd need to clear. But I hope that however it resolves, it resolves truthfully.

The NFL appears to be staying out of it (at least for now). They said that because the incident occurred prior to him being in the NFL, it is not a violation of their personal conduct policy.
So, unlike the 11 game suspension of Deshaun Watson, Araiza won't face ANY punishment, unless perhaps if he's convicted of a crime (unlike Watson).

There are circumstances where what I’ve stated is true, such as when the woman is incoherent or passed out. And that is directly from the attorney who “corrected” me. So stop being such a nudge.
