Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a major buildup of his country’s military forces Thursday in an apparent effort to replenish troops that have suffered heavy losses in six months of bloody warfare and prepare for a long, grinding fight ahead in Ukraine.
The move to increase the number of troops by 137,000, or 13%, to 1.15 million by the end of the year came amid chilling developments on the ground in Ukraine.
(snip)
Putin’s decree did not specify whether the expansion would be accomplished by widening the draft, recruiting more volunteers, or both. But some Russian military analysts predicted heavier reliance on volunteers because of the Kremlin’s concerns about a potential domestic backlash from an expanded draft.
The move will boost Russia’s armed forces overall to 2.04 million, including the 1.15 million troops.

Hold kiev? So if they go after kiev again will u promise it isnt a feint when they get their ass kicked again?
“Hold kiev? So if they go after kiev again will u promise it isnt a feint when they get their ass kicked again?”
No need for a feint this time, and it won’t be 30,000 troops.
Yup, you’ve lost the argument. Your Russian handlers will be disappointed in your performance, and will want a refund. They’ll insist on dollars, not rubles.
Maybe the ammo shortages have already kicked in.
Well, I'm sure the US military-industrial complex will be able to restock them by the end of 2023...
“Did you notice that the HIMARS terror weapons seem to have disappeared this week?

Yep, they were good weapons until Ukraine likely sold the Russians one of the systems. So, yea, now it looks as though the Russians have tuned their defenses. Now I guess we’ll have to spend another $10B to come up with a new system that we’ll try to have available for combat BEFORE giving it to one of the most corrupt countries in world, to hand over to Russia (and China, for that matter), a copy of it. By the way, this is a PRIME reason not get involved in conflicts where vital interests aren’t at stake.
As far as ammo, the Russians are starting (finally) to strike deeper into Ukraine on a regular basis, so getting weapons forward has become a bit more ‘sporty’. Not too mention that half of our stockpile is now gone.
As far as restocking, figure 2024 at best, as the US requires minority content, woke training, and God knows what else, and that’s just to be considered for bidding. Then you have new regulations, such as the conveyance vehicles now having to be electric, rather than diesel, and so you have development time for that. Given that, maybe 2025, if we’re lucky.
They could design the batteries to be dual-use, with a chassis -mounted trebuchet to fling the outdated batteries when they give up the ghost after hard field use.
Yeah, listening to western media the Ukies keep advancing ( backwards) and the Russians keep retreating (forward).
Matters little that the West is only 20 percent of the world’s population, and the other 80 percent news agencies report an entirely different story.
Didn’t anyone here in America heed Trumps warning about our corrupted media?
We should start a pool on which city falls first, Odessa, Kharkiv, or Kiev.
My money is on Odessa.
Kharkiv [Kharkov] next, in a leisurely surround, then Kiev after the military guys hook up Saint Zel with a meathook for getting all their friends killed.
Trump is America's Luminol, for those that wish to see.
Next year in Berlin. What is the answer to that in Europe? Aside islamic migrants, who can they find as volunteers?
Can’t have a pool if everyone bets on the same thing! 😨😨😨
OK, Nikolaev or Bakhmut first?
Nikolaev would be my guess, as part of the overall southern offensive.
More FSB (KGB) thinking they know how a military functions.
Comparably, what if the Justice Department was put in charge of the Pentagon, and ordered to invade Canada? Next month.
I think that ZZpeedyInTexaZZ and the PIFster got BUSY and had a love child named Timber Rattler. You are like a distilled version of their brand of whackadoo. Hat tip: you probably inherited both of their genetic mutations.

There is propaganda on both sides but you would have to be an idiot to assert that Putin’s war is going well for him. There was no difficulty in predicting how this would go for him, none. Just read a little history. Time is not on Putin’s side and in a war of aggression it must be if you seek victory.
You win your Red Star sticker for the day. But this one comes with a Putin sploosh wreath. Congratulations.
