Feds find Arizona school board failed to stop antisemitic harassment

Federal investigators have concluded that an Arizona district school board failed to protect a middle school student from antisemitic harassment by classmates.

The US Department of Education said in a statement that the Tempe area Kyrene School District did not respond appropriately to months of antisemitic harassment experienced by an Altadena Middle School student, which was a violated of Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the investigation by the department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR), the harassment took place over the course of five months, both on school grounds and online and was perpetrated by nine classmates.

The OCR said nine students harassed the Jewish girl, making jokes about the Holocaust and disparaging her for being Jewish. She also said that they made "sexually charged" statements about Judaism.

“The harassment the student experienced and the district’s failure to provide the student with a safe school environment caused her to suffer significant and enduring academic and emotional harm,” the Department of Education said. “OCR also found that the harassment the district failed to address persisted school wide.”

While the district confirmed the harassment occurred, the investigation found that it did not assess whether it “negatively impacted other students” and did not take any widespread measures to address antisemitic bullying until several months after confirming it was taking place, which “allowed a potential hostile environment...

The girl has my sympathies. But the fed-speak is so thick with gobbledygook it's hard to figure out what really happened. Was it just nine students, or was it school-wide? Where were her parents in all this?

I remember a Malcom in the Middle episode, where the youngest kid takes up his mother's discarded old purse when she gets a new one, and insists on taking it to school with him every day. His brothers warn him that this will end badly, but he persists. One day, some bullies corner him and start teasing him about the purse. He swings it around and smashes them in their faces with it, because he had been carrying bricks in the purse all along. The bullies are on the ground, curled up in the fetal position, and the youngest kid is cheerfully going on his way with a spring in his step and a smile on his face.

I’ve never seen a public school stop any bullying. What makes her special?

There are many here who advocate that parents take children out of public schools.

Perhaps that is a remedy so this kind of bad situation does not happen.

I grew up with this kind of conduct going on I was a perp of Anti-Semitism in a school where 25 percent of the students were Jewish back in 1971.

I was also a victim of bullying by other students at the same time.

Back then the kindly liberal school teacher not a federal bureaucrat made her speech about Anti-Semitism and bullying and so on.

She impressed in our young minds the wrongness of this and heck next time the bullies came after me the other students came after the bullies.

It was a mass of elementary school humanity moving across a playground dragging the bully around.

I felt like Rodney King did during the LA Riots.

“Can’t we all just get along”

That did nothing to solve the bigger problem.

Hitler was a militant vegan, he liked nude art (porn) and he liked being abused in sexual situations.

The Holocaust itself an act of industrial scale live performance snuff porn.

Naked people being slaughtered.

In this day and age it should come as no surprise that we have such conduct in our public school settings.

Humanity chooses drugs of choice from pot to porn to meth etc. etc. and children learn from the drugged up adults.

Had these bullies gone after a trannie, the District would have been on that like white on rice.

Nothing, really. Bullying and anti-Semitism have been with us for a long time, and the feds are nothing but interlopers with their Civil Rights Acts and investigations.

She could find allies among her peers, take care of it herself like Dewey did in Malcom in the Middle, or have her parents put her in a better school.

I just find the federal government’s involvement in such a mundane problem weird and a bit much. Kids get picked on for all sorts of reasons. Will the feds show up the next time a nerdy kid who lets his peers know how much smarter he is than them gets his nose bloodied? Or when the hot girls pick on the plain ones?

It is ironic, however, that with all the sensitivity training, tolerance this and tolerance that, and tranny story-telling hours, the age-old disease of anti-Semitism still thrives in the playgrounds of Arizona in the 21st Century.

And in this day and age he would be expelled and probably charged with attempted murder

Especially since the bullies were likely muslime.

It was a comedy! But the kernel of truth that makes it funny is, he changed the paradigm on those bullies. They thought he was an easy mark because he was parading around with a woman’s purse. He made his apparent weakness into a weapon. There are plenty of legal ways of doing that without bloodshed or jail time. Anti-Semitic bullies tell girl, “having trouble concentrating? Maybe you should go to a concentration camp!” She says, “great idea! I’m going there tomorrow! Don’t forget to come see me off.” Next day, she comes to school dressed in concentration camp stripes with a number on her arm, in a skin-head wig, cheery as a lark, and publicly bids them adieu. Leaves the school and never comes back. They’re freaked out. Classmates and teachers want to know what that was all about. Her parents are called, and they explain that their daughter just got on a cattle car to Buchenwald at her tormentors’ suggestion, saying that she finds it preferable to that school. They keep the charade up indefinitely, and the bullies’ rep gets progressively worse in the course of the year. Mean time, she’s enrolled in a decent private school, living the life of Riley.

That might or might not have worked, but it was better than running crying to some bloody feds!

I probably need to read more into this, but verbal harassment isn’t bullying. Sticks and stones and all that. And what is the school to do, violate the first amendment rights of some students because they’re mean?

Words are now violence. Violence is mostly peaceful.

The school can’t do squat about bullying. Children at school have their own tribalistic pecking order, and the admin and faculty never have even a clue. Going to them for protection likely cooked her goose but good. If she had just had a clever, cutting comeback at the start of this, it would have been nipped in the bud. But she showed that she was vulnerable, which was her first mistake, and then she got branded as a tattle tale. That’s my guess, anyway.

Is the concept too simple for you? Public schools do nothing about bullying to anyone. This girl is nothing special. They’ll bully you if you’re white. They’ll bully if you’re black. They’ll bully you if they don’t like you’re clothes. Or they’ll bully you for no reason at all. Being jewish doesn’t entitle you to any more protection than anyone else.

Bullies are best left to bully until a kid or a group of them, stand up to him. Bullies serve the same purpose as wolves in the environment. Get strong, or you are the prey for life.

Forgot one thing, let kids fight after school, off campus etc. IT IS NOT THE BUSINESS OF GOVERNMENT.
