Ukraine is today celebrating the 31st anniversary of leaving the Soviet Union - but marks its Independence Day amid fears of a surge in attacks by Putin's forces.
Independence Day falls exactly six months after Russia launched its brutal invasion that Volodymyr Zelensky said today has made his country feel 'reborn'.
Celebrations will be muted, with public gatherings banned in Kyiv where a sea of destroyed Kremlin tanks have been displayed to the public, and a curfew is in force in the front-line eastern city of Kharkiv.
Pictures have emerged of huge steel cages being constructed inside Mariupol's philharmonic hall where the trials are due to be held.
It is also exactly six months since Russia launched its invasion which has failed to achieve any of its strategic objectives.
The threat of further Russian attacks on civilian targets saw the British and US governments reissue warnings to its citizens to leave Ukraine.

Well, it’s 5:42 PM in Ukraine now. Haven’t heard of any wave of attacks there. But I guess even if said wave didn’t appear it’s enough for you all to justify THE FRESH $3 BILLION that your buddy Biden’s administration announced today.
Easy work for Zelensky today for that three billion. THE MONEY MUST FLOW.

How’s this logic work? Suppose Ukraine is fighting for its right to be free because it is being ordered to by the USA, which you say means the death of Ukrainians.
But doesn’t that mean in your universe that to disobey means (1) a surrender, (2) loss of sovereignty, (3) the genocide of Ukrainian culture, including the destruction of books, language, etc., as is currently publicly being carried out on occupied soil, (4) public executions of large numbers of people as promised by Russian authorities and media?
So it sounds like obeying and disobeying relates directly to the issue of national survival even in your twisted world lol.
Thats like saying England grifted the USA in WW2. Whether it’s the UK or Ukraine, they are currently fighting a war of survival... and are actually clearly winning, with 90% of Ukrainians viewing Russian defeat as inevitable.

I would disagree based on the permanent loss of territory. So far they’ve lost 1/4 their country containing $1 trillion of mineral and energy resources - which I can’t objectively call anything but losing bigly.
Once the remaining sea ports and coastline are gone, ukraine will be a landlocked country that must import energy and raw materials overland. They will be a shadow of their former economy - which was anemic.
The PR effort has been strong, but I think Russia played this right.

But my opinion is that the sea coast is a goal, as well as swallowing up more eastern buffer territory.

Not going to happen—No Russian action will happen—Get it though your thick skulls, Russia is Beaten! They do not have the Men, Gas, shells, and moral to pull off any attack. Ukraine is better armed, dug in solid. There is NO WAY Russia can shoot anything off but their mouths at this point. They are about ready for the full retreat from Ukraine and the overthrow of Hitler-Putin. Look to see Russia beg for Turkey to organize the peace talks by September. Ukraine has WON.
