Ammunition being stored in southern Russia near the border with Ukraine caught fire on Tuesday, the second such incident in a week, and a local official said high temperatures were to blame.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod region, said people near the village of Timonovo were evacuated after the ammunition started to spontaneously combust. No one was injured, he said in a statement.
Last week inhabitants of Timonovo and Soloti, 15 km (9 miles) from Ukraine, were evacuated after a nearby ammunition storage depot caught fire. It was not clear from Gladkov's comments whether Tuesday's blaze had taken place in the same depot or among ammunition that had been moved.
.."In a few months we will find out whether Russian ammunition can explode because of the cold," Ukraine's defence ministry said in a tweet on Tuesday.
"The five main causes of sudden explosions in Russia are: winter, spring, summer, autumn and smoking."

Ukraine is the one running out of ammo.
That vaunted million man army to re-take Kherson never ever materialized and will not either.
Ukraine’s military is being shredded daily, and despite Western/EU/US/Ukraine propaganda, the decimation has Ukrainian casualty numbers ranging from 150K-200K.
They are flat out losing and will lose, period. Bet.

As for not supporting the Ukrainians - that’s your opinion and it seems a very weak one IMHO. The US can help at very small cost, for the most part by giving away its own stocks of weapons that are irrelevant and useless vs its major security interests. Frankly you should be supporting sending those millions of rounds of 155mm, because the only other uses for those piles of munitions are to - what? Fight a land war in Asia? Soros motives seem very much like those of other tycoons in that category of the super-wealthy. He is purchasing indulgences, as Bezos did by purchasing the WaPo, Gates did with with his own financing of leftist institutions (spending way more than Soros), Carlos Slim by bailing out the NYT, Zuckerberg by partisan deplatforming, big banks, credit card companies, paypal, etc also deplatforming, etc. ad infinitum.
