Voters were awaiting late returns Tuesday night to determine whether Nicholas A. Langworthy or Carl P. Paladino emerges as the Republican candidate and the November favorite in the reconfigured 23rd Congressional District.

Early totals could not point to a definitive winner in the district that spans seven counties, leading both campaigns to wait far beyond the 9 p.m. close of polls to identify the Republican nominee to face Democrat Max Della Pia – a retired Air Force officer – in the Nov. 8 general election.

And because turnout for a rare August primary election was deemed light across the seven-county district, officials in both camps were waiting for the latest results before any declarations of victory or defeat.

NY-23 contains Ithaca and then extends west covering about 150 miles of hillbillies.

No.

Lines are redrawn every ten years, as you know. Ithaca is not in the new #23.

No one in Ithaca voted in this primary. And they won’t vote in 23 in NOVEMBER

Still curious why the district got a special election to fill out Reed’s term.

After Massa resigned, Paterson refused to call a prompt special election which let the district go without representation in the House for scores of votes. Including the one on Obamacare.

Given that there will be FEWER restrictions on abortions in NY now, how can it motivate democrats? Or are NYers just STUPID?
