President Biden will soon decide on “canceling” up to $10,000 in student loans for millions of borrowers as the Aug. 31 deadline nears, when loan payments are scheduled to begin again after a pause implemented to help young professionals cope with the pandemic-related economic downturn.
Internal White House discussions are considering extending the pandemic-related pause in addition to canceling $10,000 for millions of borrowers below a certain income threshold, according to The Washington Post.

dems buying votes with our money, as usual.
Mrs rktman wants to know if this covers loans already settled because she would sure like a refund. 🤬
Exactly.
Bend over America! Here come the Snowflakes and they want their free handouts before the midterms. They want them NOW!
Of course it would not affect loans already paid off. Which brings up questions of how unfair it is to millions of people, to just cancel unpaid loans.
It’s unfair to people who paid their loans.
It’s unfair to those who worked and saved money to pay for college, so as to avoid or minimize any loans they had.
It’s unfair to those who worked their way through college and made sacrifices to pay for college that way.
But the powers that be don’t care about such issues. If they can buy some votes in an election doing this, they will do it.
If America were a sane and rational nation we would ask one question about every single bill or spending measure proposed in congress........
Should our children and grandchildren pay for this? Did my grandchildren decide to get that woke college degree at that ivy league institution for 250k?
I wish people understood that all of this insane spending makes our nation less secure and less prosperous and it cripples future generations who have no vote or power over these decisions. All our enemies need to do is wait patiently because we are destroying ourselves from within.
It is immoral, illegal, unethical, and unconstitutional.
Our children and grandchildren will hate us for this.
The loans these vermin want forgiven are mostly on worthless ‘-studies” degrees from overpriced leftist “universities” anyway. If anything, the con-artist schools should be forced to refund the money on a faulty product.
Here's an idea, if there is a pause: give the borrower a 2 for 1 credit on payments. For example, if they pay $100 in a given month, $200 goes to principal.
Then we'll see how serious people are about paying down their debt.
I could get behind this IF, in exchange, they irreversibly forfeit any credentials achieved from the education AND all credits earned should be zeroed. If you get a refund for a real good you bought, you don’t get to keep the item.
He ask me if he could retroactively rebuy his home. I don't blame him.
One would think an extreme measure such as this would require Congressional approval? WTF?
Such leniency toward those debts vs income tax.
Hmmm
The decision will of course be based on internal polling, not on fiscal responsibility.
It is also unfair to those who decided to forego “higher education” and gain work skills through WORK.
If the Republicrats manage to take over congress, they should steamroll a new law eliminating all healthcare benefits for Federal Employee’s under the guise of Paying for the cancelled Student loans enacted by Brandon. Then Federal employee’s can enroll in and receive the finest healthcare in America, Obamacare.
True but they’ve bungled it completely. They dawdled for over 1.5 years to try to get the maximum PR benefit, but the delay has allowed time for a significant backlash to build. The notion that they’ve been agonizing and studying is just facial nuts and unbelievable.
What would appear to be the forming final decision is going to be thought way too little by their base
President Biden will soon decide once Susan Rice gives him the answer.
Assuming that establishment Republicans even remotely had the b@lls to do something this bold, anything that Democrats pass/implement is automatically deemed a "right" by the first shopped leftist judge who the Dems go to to contest the Republican action. I've seen it too many times.
Matching funds on payment, authorized in the form of an appropriations bill, from congress would be a much better solution. It has to be appropriations via congress, limited, targeted … but no blanket executive freebie.
I still don’t like it.
