Chicago on pace for 6 times as many carjackings as eight years ago: report ["a lack of consequences for committing crimes has helped spearhead the increase... there are fewer consequences than at almost any time in recent history"]

Chicago carjackings are on pace to rise again in 2022 after already dramatic increases in 2020 and 2021, trending towards a number that would be six times higher than just eight years ago.

"The data on Chicago carjacking through the years, and especially through the first half of 2022, serves as an unfortunate example of what happens when a city becomes 'open' for crime, with no real deterrence or consequences in most instances," wrote Wirepoints Senior Editor Matt Rosenberg, who analyzed the 2022 data.

Chicago is on pace for 1,960 carjackings in 2022, according to data compiled by Wirepoints, blowing through the 1,848 record set just last year. The number would represent an over sixfold increase from 2014, when the city recorded 303 carjackings.

"Certainly, the protests and riots mid-2020 after the death of George Floyd followed a pattern of spiking violence that we've seen following past viral police incidents, such as the deaths of Michael Brown and Freddie Gray. This pattern has been termed the ‘Ferguson Effect’: police pull back while violent crime spikes precipitously," Hannah Meyers, director of the policing and public safety initiative at the Manhattan Institute, told Fox News Digital of the crime spike earlier this year.

The Wirepoints analysis pointed to similar problems in Chicago, arguing that a lack of consequences for committing crimes has helped spearhead the increase.

"Chicago’s growing carjacking problem is a microcosm of what’s gone wrong in the city," Rosenberg wrote. "Carjackings are more frequent, they are more weaponized, and there are fewer consequences than at almost any time in recent history."

Is there anything wrong with “reimagining policing”? Not that I can see. Nope. It’s turning out real well.

Why aren’t the social workers in there mixing it up with the carjackers and talking sense to them? Some counseling and therapy by social workers should get them to renounce their evil ways.

Here’s the theological reason for not enforcing laws. A law implies that a decision has been made about what is good and what is evil. Since all things are relative then there can’t be any good or evil. One man’s good is another man’s evil. To say that something is evil implies some higher power, like God. Since there can’t be a God and all things are relative, who are we to say that any act, no matter what we think of it, is good or evil? Therefore, we can’t imprison people just because we don’t like what they do. This was exactly the reason for letting murderers serving life sentences out of weekend furlough.

This guy, killing people while out on furlough cost the Democrats a presidential election.

No consequences and no conscience is the perfect combination for stopping criminal activitys. Just ask any progressive.

As we transition from ICE to EV cars, will the pace of carjackings go up or down?

Either car owners will remotely shut off their EV after being jacked, or the jackers will remotely jack it first.

Will they be known as EVjackers?

The Evolution that is settled science says:

Survival of the Fittest.

Inner cities seem to be trying to evolve.

Will the rest of the population have to evolve also?

The solution is obvious. Chicago must call all future carjackings “involuntary car lendings” instead. This will reduce the carjacking stats to zero, by golly.

Does anyone care to speculate how many felonies were reported in Chicago so far in 2022, how many actual arrests were made and finally how many convictions have occurred?

On the positive side, if we don’t arrest anybody for crimes, don’t charge anybody for crimes, and don’t prosecute anybody for crimes, then we have arrived at True Equity and we will be living in Eden.

I would like an ev/self driving car to lock the doors, seat belts and drive to the nearest police station, or better yet, right into Lake Michigan. This seems harsh, but the societal cost of vehicle replacement would be nothing to the costs of crime (injury/deaths), and the costs of the justice system on top of that.

In stores, in the house…at school or work. All someone has to do is troll you.

Apologies for the incomplete thought.

It's summer, and I know that many Freepers are looking forward to spending their vacations in Chicago.

Here's a link to Chicago's tourism department, choosechicago.com:

I was expecting articles on subjects such as "What weapons should I bring to help me survive?" but did not find them.

People troll garage doors and electronic starts with signals to clone results.

Get small faraday cages and lock garage doors

“Will the rest of the population have to evolve also?”

A friend’s two sons moved to New York City. On the first night they were both mugged in separate incidents and lost all of their money, ID’s and credit cards. Dad wired them money so they could eat. They took $hit jobs and lived in single rooms with other guys. Knowing the kids, the reason they wanted to live in NYC was, if you want to get laid you can walk out on any sidewalk and ask any passer’s by, “wanna get laid?” and on the third try someone will say yes. The same is true for buying drugs or anything you’d like. On top of this they were decent men. When each of them “accidentally” got a woman pregnant, in both cases those women were at the end of their visas, they married them. They both moved out of NYC and into the suburbs. Shocked, I said to dad, “Hey, I thought they loved it there.” He had already rolled his eyes when he told me about the sudden pregnancies and the visa situation. He laughed and said they’d both said, “You’d have to be crazy to try to raise a kid in NYC.”

What will happen is, the good people...mostly good, will move out of cities. Since Covid has proven most companies don’t even need you to commute to their office, even fewer companies will locate in cities. Just as technology has made cities unnecessary, the cities have decided to rape, loot and pillage those living there. Both from taxes and from allowing crime to happen unimpeded. Cities will become little Hells and I suspect that by midcentury, most American cities will have become small towns with lots of ruins.

I was chatting with a gasoline delivery semi driver.

I asked about truck theft, being as he had valuable cargo.

He said if the truck was taken, it would die down the road aways. Away from him. Company was in constant contact with truck via GPS and other links. They had thought this through.

How about a go/no-go zone map? Some parts of the northwest side and O’Hare corridor are still acceptable AFAIK.
