Sen. Lindsey Graham loses bid to delay testifying in Georgia Trump probe

A federal judge in Georgia on Friday denied Sen. Lindsey Graham's latest attempt to escape a subpoena to testify before a grand jury investigating alleged election interference in the state.

Lawyers for Graham, R-S.C., had asked Judge Leigh Martin May to temporarily block an order she issued earlier this week denying his bid to quash the grand jury subpoena. They appealed the decision to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and asked May to put her ruling on hold during the appeals process.

The Fulton County district attorney's office urged the judge to deny the request in a court filing Friday, arguing that Graham's legal maneuverings have already cost the special grand jury precious time. The DA's office noted it first sought Graham's appearance in early July.

"Six weeks later, after litigation in three separate jurisdictions, the District Attorney is still attempting to provide the [Special Purpose Grand Jury] with the Senator’s crucial testimony," the DA's office wrote, noting that a stay of May's ruling could lead to months of additional litigation.

“Given the possibility that Senator Graham’s testimony could reveal additional routes of inquiry, staying remand and enjoining his appearance at this stage could ultimately delay the resolution of the SPGJ’s entire investigation,” their filing said.

The judge sided with the DA's office later Friday.

"Senator Graham raises a number of arguments as to why he is likely to succeed on the merits, but they are all unpersuasive," she wrote in the ruling.

The grand jury was impaneled this year to assist District Attorney Fani Willis’ criminal investigation into possible 2020 election interference by former President Donald Trump and others.

Graham: I already have a conflicting appointment time for my nails and pedicure. Doesn’t anyone have feelings any more?

People here have good reasons for not liking Graham.

But, this is a fishing expedition.

They are hoping to catch in a perjury trap so they can blackmail him into testifying (truthfully or otherwise) against Trump.

Wish he had lost his primary in 2014 after his THIRD amnesty vote.

He should just say he can’t remember. It was so long ago.

You have a lot of guts to have that tagline around here, the Cubanadian has many fans here.

Right. Everyone subpoenaed should go with the Hillary Clinton defense: “I don’t recall.”

From the link below: ”Hillary Clinton used variations of ‘I don’t recall’ 21 out of 25 times when answering questions about private email server in court filing.”

The election was officially declared over by certification.

I can’t possibly interfere with your August 18th life. Why? Because that date is past.

I’m a senator from South Carolina. I get a good salary, nice office and staff, and prestige.

I really don’t need to care about Georgia, so I don’t.

I’d rather see him lose his bid to be re-elected.

Let’s say this was James Clyburn. He’d be getting the Nobel Peace Prize.

Graham works for the Dems but it’s Senate Skullduggery, maneuvers only the Senate seems to care about.

So, they’re pursuing Lindsey Graham for all the wrong reasons.

Hey Lindsey, like the fake Whistleblower you protected, these are your people!

There is only one issue in the Georgia election, and most people do not understand it.

By Georgia election law, a registered voter who moves to a new voting district must change their address within a certain time period before the next election.

If they fail to change their address, their ballot is declared void.

When Trump asked the Georgia Secretary of State "to find" a certain number of votes, Trump was specifically referencing the law that would have invalidated thousands of Biden votes in the Atlanta urban area.

Trump's request was completely reasonable and completely legal!

The Feds will not pursue Lindsey Graham.

I guarantee you that.

This is a Fulton Co or Atlanta Radical DA, unconcerned with the drugs, carjackings, and beatings - trying to get Donald Trump.

Fani Willis.

Graham has cultivated more than half of DC, including Generals and Supreme Court Justices.

Graham is an outspoken advocate for Merrick Garland, and Graham had budget and staff as Committee Chairman. When the power shifts, Lindsey’s attorneys and top staff go right to work for the DoJ.

So, he’s inoculated against Fed action in a larger sense.

I’m a senator from South Carolina. I get a good salary, nice office and staff, and prestige, free, national exposure to frequently spew my lying bile on Fox News.

They call it "fair and balanced" get over it.

Fani Willis is the DA of Fulton County. The county is the entity “investigating” this nonsense.

Where and how does a federal judge come into play?

Why wasn’t Grahams argument heard in Superior Court? Absolutely nothing makes sense anymore. They have screwed things up so bad that only a complete purge and reset might fix it.

He’s got a very simple response as soon as he walks in the door.

I plead the 5th Amendment.

Also, isn’t there some federal law that allows members of Congress to be excused from such things while Congress is in session.

Was he in the White House during the call? What do they think his role in anything is?

Did he ever question the results of the election?

Something tells me he’s more than willing to drop dime on the President. Can he? Time will tell. Would he? I have no doubt.

IIRC, the Dems were telling people to come on down and vote. There's more to this re; residency.

And Graham's testimony will help the situation...not hurt it. Graham was making inquiries in Georgia that he was entitled to make.
