On Wednesday morning, August 17, and on the night of August 18, explosions occurred in the southern part of Melitopol, Zaporozhye region. It was the Ukrainian partisans who blew up the electrical support to prevent the ZAES from being reconnected to the Russian power

This is reported by the local newspaper "RIA-Melitopol". It is noted that after the explosions, the invaders blocked the southern exit from the city and allowed transport to detour through Sadovoye.

"On August 17, at 10: 58, an explosion occurred in the southern part of the city, after which the invaders blocked the southern exit from Melitopol. At the checkpoint, during the turn to The New Cemetery, the military allowed vehicles to detour through Sadovoye. And on the night of August 17-18, at approximately 3.25 in the city center, air defense was heard, and in the southern part a single explosion," the report says.

The publication claims that the result of the work of saboteurs was the explosion of an electric support.

"Melitopol saboteurs spoiled the rashists' plans to quickly reconnect the nuclear power plant. On Monday, August 15, in Melitopol, we recall, heavy trucks with coils of wires and barrels of transformer oil were seen. Most likely, they were delivered to implement the plan to connect Zaporizhia NPP to the Russian power system," RIA – Melitopol writes.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL reported that on August 17, an explosion occurred again in the temporarily occupied Melitopol. This happened in the area of the Polyclinic, where one of the commandant's offices of the invaders is located.

After that, Melitopol collaborators and FSB officers panicked, began to cut down bushes and install video cameras. In addition, collaborators have strengthened paramilitary security.

Before that, on August 14, Ukrainian partisans damaged a railway bridge in the south-west of Melitopol. After that, the Russian occupiers cannot transport ammunition from Crimea to the city.

The next day, on August 15, Ukrainian partisans in Melitopol announced a hunt for collaborators who help organize a pseudo-referendum on the annexation of the occupied territories to the Russian Federation. Thanks to the actions of the Ukrainian resistance movement, the Russian invaders have already changed their plans for holding such a "referendum"several times.

And on the morning of August 16, explosions were heard again in Melitopol. Previously, a "pop" occurred in the area of the substation, after which the broadcasting of terrestrial television captured by the Russian military stopped.

Before the war, this type of ‘pole’ being fully placed upright again...would have taken a couple of days to plan and execute. In the current situation...you’d have to find some Russian electricians who don’t mind working in a work-zone. This might take a while.

Nuclear power plants are best run with TOTALLY RELIABLE connections to the outside world via the grid. When the connections are not totally reliable, a nuclear plant is not a good idea. If there is no reliable outside electrical connection, the plant depends on redundant diesel generators for a safe shutdown. These generators must be well maintained and tested, but are not totally reliable considering the high stakes of avoiding a meltdown.

An Army should have its own utilities and construction soldiers, and entire units to get cities back into operation.

When it comes to the conflict in Ukraine, I wouldn’t trust anything from the UK Daily Mail. And IMHO the posts being traded on FR on this topic have brought FR to a low point. Obviously nothing we can say will make any difference, and at this moment I’ll withdraw.

I totally agree. I listen to your viewpoint.
You have never been unkind. Yet, as we all know, some comments made have been quite rude and derogatory.
