Fire department officials are raising awareness of the dangers of electric vehicle battery fires, calling on regulators to increase electric vehicle safety standards for emergency responders. One fire department chief called electric cars “trick birthday candles” due to their tendency to reignite even after the fire has been put out.
The Regulatory Review reports on the dangers of electric vehicle battery fires, which behave very differently from traditional car fires. One fire department chief said that electric vehicles that catch on fire are “trick birthday candles,” due to their tendency to reignite even after the fire seems to be out.

This is why tire fires are so bad and continue for such a long time,
They are self sustaining.
If I remember it correctly, the burning process generates enough oxygen to sustain itself. So you have to completely bury it in sand, and even then it won’t stop immediately.
We are all trying to save Mother Earth, and stuff. Why are these fire fighters bothering us with facts? It’s a needless distraction.
For the average person, multiply by a factor of 3-4 if it’s in an attached garage.
Private jets burning Class A jet fuel still totes cool though.
And that’s probably on the low side.
Park your new EV over on your neighbor’s side of the street.
The ‘shocking’ thing’ (*ahem*) of the report I linked (https://www.ntsb.gov/news/press-releases/Pages/NR20210113.aspx) is that the NTSB failed to investigate or report upon the corollary to spontaneous ignition, such as risk to structures or vessels (i.e., the M/V Felicity Ace) and the resultant complications/consequences.
At a minimum all EV owners (as well as lithium ‘toy’ owners, including scooters, etc.) should - out of an abundance of caution against property damage, injury & death - cease parking/storing/charging their EVs where they may cause a structure fire.
Despite the hysterical defense of EVs, there exists ample evidence of the risk for both the precautions and further comprehensive studies until a safer energy storage medium is commercially available.
But we can all agree that it will take a tragedy to prompt said recommendations from the authorities.
From an engineering/vehicular safety aspect, I find current EV battery & vehicle designs to be woefully inadequate and, in fact, unsafe.
But hysterics gonna defend regardless...
I think we need a new law making it Illegal with severe monetary fines for any Public Employee to park an EV outside, they must be in their Garage at all times when they are home.
Do the batteries leak like the ones in a flashlight I found in a cabinet ? What a mess
The libtard gift that keeps on burning 🔥

I agree 100% with your findings. It's gonna take a major event with loss of life before the idiots in charge wake up to this danger.
I avoid parking next to EVs when ever I can. Of course, I have no control over who parks next to me.
never ever park next to an EV
We have a personal friend who is now the fire chief for a major metro ATL county. The next time we get together, I’ll be getting his opinions on all this. I already sent him the link in your #5.
