A school district in suburban Fort Worth, Texas, has ordered its librarians to remove an illustrated adaptation of, “The Diary of Anne Frank,” from their shelves and digital libraries, along with the Bible and dozens of other books that were challenged by parents last year.
.....
“It’s disgusting. It’s devastating. It’s legitimate book banning, there’s no way around it,” Laney Hawes, a parent of four children in the Keller district, told JTA about the order. “I feel bad for the teachers and the librarians.”
“Anne Frank’s Diary: The Graphic Adaptation,” by Israeli filmmaker Ari Folman and illustrator David Polonsky, is a 2019 illustrated adaptation of the bestselling diary by the teenage Holocaust victim. The New York Times called the book “so engaging and effective that it’s easy to imagine it replacing the [original] ‘Diary’ in classrooms and among younger readers.”
.....
“When we got, ‘The Diary of Anne Frank,’ we thought, ‘This is a joke.’ But it wasn’t,” Hawes said, adding that the complaint was that “the book shouldn’t be read without parent supervision.” She suspected that the parent may have objected to the unabridged diary’s references to female genitalia, same-sex attraction and other sexual matters, which have been deemed “pornographic” by parental challenges in the past....
.....
“Right now, Keller ISD’s administration is asking our campus staff and librarians to review books that were challenged last year to determine if they meet the requirements of the new policy,” the district said in a statement to JTA when reached for comment. “Books that meet the new guidelines will be returned to the libraries as soon as it is confirmed they comply with the new policy.”

One teacher called her in tears. “She said it: ‘I can’t even let them read ‘The Diary of Anne Frank.’”

I dated one and I am glad to be rid of her. Funny thing you hear about teachers underpaid, and I do not disagree. This librarian got 65k to maintain grade school kids books.
A trained monkey could do her job.
Weird how authorities jump right into action when a few parents comp, ain’t about religious books, but when parents complain about inappropriate books about perverted crap, those same authorities retort that there is a “right to,display them” or some such hypocritical claim.
But the article states that the Bible and other religious books were banned as well?
The editing history of the Diary is too complicated to put here (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Diary_of_a_Young_Girl), but the parts edited out did indeed contain musings on her own sexuality, as well S some commentary on the state of her parents’ marriage.
So new editions have come out including more of these entries.
I have a problem with what the NYT wrote (”’so engaging and effective that it’s easy to imagine it replacing the [original] ‘Diary’ in classrooms and among younger readers.’”) because without further elaboration it makes it sound like the only reason students would read it is for the previously-edited parts. That is just so condescending and disgusting of them.
Kids used to save their money to buy “forbidden” books. That was, in a way, a good system! They had a lot more incentive to read... But now they put them in the school libraries!

1984 indeed
It does and there’s not a lot of detail. So I have to wonder what version of the Bible?
I don’t like the thought of book-banning, but I’m a little suspicious of this article since there’s a *lot* of focus on slamming “conservatives” and “right wing groups.” I’d be curious to know what books really are banned/removed and why, but I don’t think this article is a good source for that.
Yeah you.re right article is to vague to know what’s going on. It,does make it seem like a book burning article.
They should have removed it. Who the heck approved it in the first place?
Remove them as well.
There were multiple versions published

The version used in schools was the abridged version with stuff about sex cut out.
When I was a lad we had comic book versions of classic novels—Classics Illustrated I think they were called. But back then, school libraries didn’t have them, libraries had things called books that we were encouraged and expected to read.
Read the 1 star reviews on Amazon of people who actually bought the book. Ann Frank is “interpreted” by these sick b@stards as a lesbian who hates her mother, is preoccupied with menstruation and her genitalia and a lot of other things that have nothing to do with the original diary or Ann’s story but are yet again just disgusting perverse attempts to make everything about their gender-affirming crap, etc.
It is a disgrace to Ann Frank’s memory.
I remember her and her sister washing their menstrual pads. Anne Frank had a crush on Peter, which would mean she maybe wanted to kiss him. She wouldn’t have had sexual fantasies. I can only assume pedos have added their own sexual fantasies about 15 year olds to her diary.
How would those libiots introduce homosexuality into an Anne Frank comic? Are they saying Anne Frank had a crush on the one mom-age woman she hid with?
Graphic novels are one tool the Commies use to subvert the parents’ control over children.

So true. Check out the graphic novel section at the public library. The American Library Association has ensured this section for young people is filled with mostly satanic trash.
Things have literally gone to Hell since we were young.
