Protection sought for rare butterflies at Nevada site

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Conservationists who are already suing to block a geothermal power plant where an endangered toad lives in western Nevada are now seeking U.S. protection for a rare butterfly at another geothermal project the developer plans near the Oregon line.

The Center for Biological Diversity is now petitioning the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list the bleached sandhill skipper under the Endangered Species Act at the only place it’s known to exist.

It says the project the Bureau of Land Management approved last year 250 miles (400 kilometers) north of Reno could ultimately lead to the extinction of the 2-inch-long butterfly with golden-orange wings.

“This beautiful little butterfly has evolved over millennia to thrive in this one specific spot, and no one should have the right to just wipe it off the face of the Earth,” said Jess Tyler, a scientist at the center who co-wrote the petition.

They have NO POSSIBLE idea that this is the ONLY place this butterfly lives.

N Nevada winters can be very cold. I am pretty sure butterflies go south-—like the Monarch ones do.

MORE MIXED MESSAGES from the ENVIRONAZIS.

Okay, so let’s build a few nuclear plants elsewhere so we can save the butterflies.

I want to see some commitment from the Dems.
Have Tlaib, AOC, Presley, Nadler, Schumer, Schiff, the black caucus and others lie down with arms linked on the road as the heavy construction vehicles bear down on them.

In the documentary movie Fried Shoes, Crooked Diamonds (1978) a group of poets, writers and activists do that in order to stop a nuclear power plant. They end up getting up fast and running away.

Since the 1980s Biology professors have had students do "field work" to ID an "endangered species" in every grid of the country.

Organized fraud!

“As a spotted owl survey participant...”

You too? I spent quite a bit of the summer of 1979 doing a survey of spotted owls on the Deschutes National Forest in central Oregon. One thing I did learn is that they don’t need pristine old-growth forest to live.

I have personally witnesses eco-nuts hunting for birds nest to be moved to another location, so that they could claim an “Endangered species” presence there.
Also Lynx hairs, same deal.

It is not green power that is the goal, it is NO power and agenda 21/30.

Geothermal may be the most “Green” energy available.
No additional heat source required, and the water used is returned to the ground.
All you see is some pipes, building, and cooling tower.
If the source goes dry everything is easily removed and you would never know it was there.
No massive hole in the ground, no acres of concrete, not dependent on rain.

Oh, I know the real problem, no big wealth transfer to China!

One thing I did learn is that they
is that they don’t live in rock escarpments , scabrock, marshes or grasslands or planting units no later how many times you include those acres in your math.

SPIT.

I also learned blowing the whistle and informing your permanent employee bosses pretty much assures you’ll never get another gs5 nte180.

Ever.

1979, before spotted owls had really turned into a political issue. In fact, one of the nesting pairs had been reported by some loggers. Fat chance of that even a few years later.

Well, they can’t live just anywhere, like pigeons or something, but they don’t need 2,000 acres (or whatever the number claimed) of undisturbed old growth, either. I remember a couple of nests in areas that had definitely been logged not all that long before.

Oh, NO! Newkyoular is baaaaaaaaad. Jane Fonda sez so ... splitting atoms??? What could possibly go wrong?

This isn't about "saving the environment". It's about killing 90% of the human population.

1.5 miles between nesting pairs, by the time we got done drawing circles around the nesting pairs there was not hardly 1 acre of timberland left .

They were so endangered they were at 100 % suitable habitat saturation.

Pointing that inconvenient fact out to your permanent emotes boss will also pretty much assure you will never be offered gs5 nte180 doing contract administration again.

Ever.

SPIT.
