There were chaotic scenes at an Ikea store in Shanghai on Saturday, with shoppers trying to escape as authorities tried to quarantine them.
Health officials were attempting to lock the store in Xuhui district down as a customer had been in close contact with a positive Covid case.
Videos show the guards closing the doors at one point, but a crowd forced them open and made their escape.
Shanghai endured a severe two-month lockdown earlier this year.

A bit surprising. Maybe even the conditioned and trained Chinese are beginning to question the CCP and their policies.
I remember walking into the Beijing airport terminal and immediately being cordoned off with a rope, along with several others, and being searched. The moment when you realize you have no rights in that country. Nobody says a word. It is normal and expected.
My Chinese work colleague told me, in response to me asking “how do you feel about not being able to speak out?”, “we’re not allowed to feel”.
Their salmon is halfway decent, especially given the price.
In all seriousness one of our contractors has a facility in China and we were concerned about using it because of lockdowns.
Their representative told us they have a hotel at the factory so the employees can stay there and eat at the restaurant.
Imagine living at work.
I wouldn’t mind being locked down in an IKEA. Of course, not with hundreds of others, just me. :)
