As an act of good faith, I suggest that the "senior Kremlin officials" first put a .45 caliber slug through Putin's brain.
Then we can talk about "putting an end to the invasion."

I think cutting off Putin’s head and broadcasting a video of it would be a good start.

In Putin’s mind and those within the inner circle of Oligarch guys...there has to be a win-win scenario somewhere in the middle of this business. They want all the sanctions ended, some kind of acknowledgement of Ukraine being less independent, and some agreement that NATO will not be a player in countries like Bulgaria, Poland, and the Baltic states.
Once you write this down...there’s no outcome possible for Ukraine, NATO or the EU to be agreeable.
Added to this mess, there are two Oligarch groups (the original crowd from the 2000-era, and the group that came after Putin gained power). The outer circle has no power or control now over Putin. The inner circle (mostly FSB/KGB former members) still have a persuasion power with Putin.
Economically-speaking, the longer this goes on...the more people will settle upon exiting the country, and working elsewhere. So they could end up in two years with a communications network marginally working because the IT core of operators left the country. Same with banks, and various technology sectors.

#2. Exactly. Withdraw.
There is no saving face for Moscow anymore.

Or so the Germans would have us believe.

enough with the Ukraine war propaganda already
it’s absolutely disgusting to see Clinton-Soros water-carrying on FR
like watching a gay prostitute solicit in your church

It is unclear which member of Moscow's top officials is likely to have undermined Putin's plans, but the document supposedly described the insider as a 'pillar of the regime' in Russia. The could of used his Western Intelligence Code Name..... Dead Man Walking. Why was this leaked unless the West wants to start a back draft fire in the Kremlin....

Yeah, seems as you say, this is a peace deal that is going
nowhere.
Nice job, creating one big no-mans land.
