TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — A delegation of American lawmakers arrived in Taiwan on Sunday, just 12 days after a visit by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that prompted China to launch days of threatening military drills around the self-governing island that Beijing says must come under its control.
The five-member delegation, led by Democratic Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts, will meet President Tsai Ing-wen and other officials, as well as members of the private sector, to discuss shared interests including reducing tensions in the Taiwan Strait and investments in semiconductors.
China responded to Pelosi’s Aug. 2 visit by sending missiles, warships and warplanes into the seas and skies around Taiwan for several days afterward. The Chinese government objects to Taiwan having any official contact with foreign governments, particularly with a high-ranking congressional leader like Pelosi.

Not only that but like a Mafia Family, they are explaining what US support for Taiwan will cost.
Basically, the lawmakers want to be cut in on business deals in Taiwan or ensure they are buying their weapons from companies they own stock in for supporting US support.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the real meetings include Chinese officials and all three sides — dems, china and taiwan — are up to no good.

I visited Taiwan many years ago in what the Taiwan government considered an official capacity, but that was different!!!! I’m sure that the ChiComs took no notice of our research group. But in 2022 they are watching every official American visitor to Taiwan like a hawk!!!!
For once, I agree with the Democrats. If a bully dares you to step over a line he draws with his toe, the smartest thing to do is step right over, show you are not intimidated. He might still bloody your nose, but he might do so especially if you show him that you’re buffaloed. If you step over the line, he might start worrying about his own nose, if you do so bold as brass without hesitating.
These aren’t hornets, they’re thugs. Their threats and reactions to standing up to them are both calculated.

There hasn't been a visit by a Speaker of the House in 25 years. Pelosi's visit did nothing to serve US interests and this visit by democrats is only stirring the pot further at a time when we lack an administration with any backbone to actually honor commitments that have been made to Taiwan.
Since Pelosi allows congresscrirtets to vote remotely, I say move them all to Taiwan to legislate from there to guarantee China doesn’t invade.
