Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) intends to investigate the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s raid of Mar-a-Lago if Republicans take back the Senate this fall, he told Breitbart News.
Grassley, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, appeared on Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Saturday and shined a light on a number of angles on the raid of former President Donald J. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence. Grassley first asserted there is an FBI “double standard” concerning Trump in contrast to other political figures, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.

IF??😠
Wrong!!, Elmer Fudd will do NOTHING!
If he was Serious about the Abuses by the DOJ and FBI he would be saying that if the Republicans take the Senate at the midterms,
Garland, Wray and a lot of other DOJ Criminals are going to PRISON FOR LIFE by an Order of the US Senate!
U.S. CODE
TITLE 2—THE CONGRESS
CHAPTER 6—CONGRESSIONAL AND COMMITTEE PROCEDURE; INVESTIGATIONS
Sec. 193. Privilege of witnesses
No witness is privileged to refuse to testify to any fact, or to produce any paper, respecting which he shall be examined by either House of Congress, or by any joint committee established by a joint or concurrent resolution of the two Houses of Congress, or by any committee of either House, upon the ground that his testimony to such fact or his production of such paper may tend to disgrace him or otherwise render him infamous.”
Simply look up Hinds Precedents, especially chapters 53 and 51, and Cannon’s Precedents, especially chapters 184-185. You’ll find numerous detailed cases of Congress asserting its power, arresting people, holding them until they agreed to answer questions, and then releasing them. Some of these people did not refuse to appear, but simply failed to satisfactorily answer questions.
Congress has the authority to arrest and imprison those found in Contempt. The power extends throughout the United States and is an inherent power (does not depend upon legislated act)
If found in Contempt the person can be arrested under a warrant of the Speaker of the House of Representatives or President of the Senate, by the respective Sergeant at Arms.
Statutory criminal contempt is an alternative to inherent contempt.
Under the inherent contempt power Congress may imprison a person for a specific period of time or an indefinite period of time, except a person imprisoned by the House of Representatives may not be imprisoned beyond adjournment of a session of Congress.
Imprisonment may be coercive or punitive.

In 1857, a New York Times reporter refused to say which members of Congress had asked him to get them bribes (protecting his “sources” just as various Judith Millers today protect the people who feed them proven lies that costs thousands of lives), so Congress locked him up until he answered and then banned him from Congress.
In 1924 an oil executive appeared but refused to answer certain questions, so the Senate held — literally held — him in contempt. Senator Thomas Walsh of Montana argued that this question of contempt was of the gravest importance, and that it involved “the very life of the effective existence of the House of Representatives of the United States and of the Senate of the United States.” The matter was taken to court, and the witness fined and imprisoned.
.
It was regarding the FBi’s budget, too.
And Lindsey and Chris Wray should’ve gotten a room.
That’s why we have the unprecedented Raid, there is no opposition party.
.
Go back to sleep Chuck. That’s what you guys always do anyway, even when you have the majority in both Houses of Congress.
Congress long ago deferred to the DOJ for contempt prosecutions.
Stop saying “when” and start pounding on it right now. Make an investigation a demand everyday, by every Republican Senator. I’m tired of hearing about “when.” Who cares if they say No 50 times a day?
.
They have about 260 Republicans - not counting Governors, etc.
They should be talking about Hunter and James Biden every day.
I’ve heard about five say anything at all.
.
.
Not Dems.
See Jan 6th, they are leading
.
.
Congress issues subpoenas and makes referrals.
Sets the table and serves it up.
Yes, DoJ from there.
I won't believe it even a week after it happens.
Against my better judgment, I will take him at his word and thank him. Sooner or later, some of them have to wake up or we are toast.
.
Aug 22, Election weeks away - we have no choice but to support him.
Absolutely
Grassley is up for reelection. He will do nothing of the sort if he regains the chair.
.
And If the GOP doesn’t win the Senate, it’s because they ran their Get Biden Elected Op last time they had the Senate.
.
Senate hearings accomplish nothing.
Why do Republicans always announce their imtentions ahead of time? Idiots!!
If you believe that The Senate Republicans will sell you a bridge in Brooklyn...
............Grassley hints that he will get tough with Wray and Garland and actually use words like, “dang” and “darn” during his 5 minutes of asking questions.............

Exactly. I have written him numerous times about various things, including why the Jan. 6 prisoners have not had a speedy trial. I seem to remember something in the bill of rights about that... hmmm. I get the same tired responses back from him. I will admit they are slightly better than the form letters I get back from Joni Ernst.
