Hundreds of Mexican soldiers were sent to Ciudad Juarez Friday while violence sparked in the border town near Texas may be linked to a series of incidents in Tijuana and the surrounding area.
The situation began in Ciudad Juarez with a prison face-off between members of two rival cartels, which caused a riot and shootouts that left 11 people dead, most of them civilians, authorities said.
The violence then apparently moved west. The U.S. Consulate in Tijuana warned American citizens late Friday to avoid the area, while acknowledging that officials are “aware of reports of multiple vehicle fires, roadblocks, and heavy police activity in Tijuana, Mexicali, Rosarito, Ensenada and Tecate.

Just play it safe and avoid the entire country
I’ve been to Tijuana, no desire to return even without the cartels.
Please be patient. If you won’t go to Tijuana, Tijuana will come to you.
Washington DC is far more lawless.
The donkey must be very disappointed.

My family visited Juarez when I was a kid. Dad wouldn’t let us buy any candy and he dang sure wouldn’t let me buy that cool looking switchblade. Sigh....

There were innocent pleasures to be had. Get your picture with a burro painted to look like a zebra, cheap decent tequila, good food, horseback riding on the beach and then there was the ‘lobster village’ south of Rosarito—one and a half lobsters with rice and beans for $11. But apparently those days are long gone. The decent Mexicans—and that’s most of them are getting destroyed by this.
That’s nuts. Wifey told me a couple days ago oxxo stores are being targeted and I buy beer there all the time. Granted, we’re in Matamoros Tamaulipas. Still gonna do it. When you’ve been in Mexico as many years as I have, you become jaded
;)
I have been to Juarez and feel the same about it.
