Are Democrats setting a trap for Trump?
American Thinker ^ | August 12, 2022 | Joe Alton, M.D.

In Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Admiral Ackbar believes he is ambushing a partly built "death star," only to find that it is fully operational and an enemy fleet has arrived. In a famous movie understatement, now embedded in pop culture, Ackbar exclaims, "It's a trap!" Now Democrats have planted an even more nefarious trap by having their minions in the FBI raid Donald Trump's home at Mar-a-Lago.

The former president's estate in Palm Beach, Florida was the subject of an FBI search warrant in the late hours on Monday by two dozen agents, with 15 boxes of documents removed from the premises. The papers allegedly contain classified national security information and correspondence between Mr. Trump and leaders of other countries.

Okay, that's a raid, not a trap. The trap is what the Democrats hope the volatile and impulsive ex-president does in response.

Perhaps the worst kept secret in politics is that Donald Trump will, sometime this year, announce his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election. The 2022 elections are still before us, however, and the Republicans are thought to have a good chance of reclaiming the House of Representatives in November, if not the Senate β€” that is, as long as no one rocks the boat.

The Democrats have had some limited success regaining momentum as a result of the January 6 committee hearings and the untimely decision of the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Their spin doctors are hard at work making small drops in gas prices and the rate of inflation look like a roaring economy despite two straight quarters of negative growth. Crime, immigration, and multiple other issues remain a burden for the left.

Within the context of the upcoming election it was an untimely decision and it will impact the always problematic women vote.

I remember Bill Clinton used Janet Reno to do the same thing that Biden is doing and that did not end well for the Federal Government.

Amnesty Senators are not on “our” side, even if Trump endorses them.

Most of the 145 House members that voted for Liz Cheney in Feb 2021 will be re-elected.

Yes, it’s a good thing we are knocking off a few.

Who set what trap?

President Trump has been spyed upon, raided, impeached and besmirched for 5 years.

I won’t rule out the guy who created, produced and stared in the “Apprentice.”

The Donald may come out of this smelling like a rose.

A Republican takeover of the House in November doesn’t give us much to celebrate about.

Au Contraire....

We don’t have to wait until January 2025 for President Trump to be back in charge again. He’ll be the de facto POTUS right after the successful mid-terms.

He’ll have some new blood he endorsed at all levels all over the country. He’ll be building a perpetual bonfire perfect for holding the feet to of the Assistant Democrats.

That’s what this desperation is all about.

Given Trump’s penchant for trolling his enemies, who’s to say his security detail just sent the FBI and DoJ on a wild goose chase. πŸ˜πŸ˜‰πŸ˜†

They have been trying to destroy Trump since the June 2015 escalator ride at Trump Tower. And without success. Maybe Trump is the one setting a trap...

How can we make any progress with “leaders” like McConnell and McCarthy in positions of power? Trust me, they won’t roll over for him.

Trump’s persona is a trap. He portrays himself as vitriolic, dyspeptic, and imperious. He is, however, contained, calculating, and manipulative. They can’t get him because they do not know him.

Maybe Trump is the one setting the trap.

I imagine one way or the other we'll find out.

I believe the key point is the response to the court this afternoon. If Trump follows through on his statement to release the warrant, that would be great. But if there is a “miscommunication” between his lawyers and the courts that results in a “delay”, that would be telling as well.

As in any criminal case, the defendant is usually told to keep their mouth shut. In this case it is clear that the defendant isn’t going to do that in public, but watch what happens in his filings with the court. That is where the rubber meets the road.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

(And, a public statement about his intent is not a legally binding statement.)

Hire a security company, remove the bugs, gather up the fake evidence, and return to Mar-a-Lago. How hard is that?

Trump is playing with those bumbling idiots who think they’ve got him this time! Like Dick Dasterdly and Penelope Pitstop, Tom and Jerry, Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny, the Aardvark and the Ant or the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote. Those are probably where those morons get their ideas.
