Trump’s one-time chief of staff Mick Mulvaney says that only a small number of people who were “very close” to Donald Trump could have tipped off the FBI, resulting in the raid that occurred earlier this week.
“This would be someone who was handling things day-to-day, who knew where documents were, so it would be somebody very close…” Mulvaney told CNN. “My guess is there’s probably six or eight people who had that kind of information.”
According to Mulvaney, whoever spoke to the feds was close enough to Trump that he or she not only knew about the existence of a safe at Mar-a-Lago but its location.
”I didn’t even know there was a safe at Mar-a-Lago, and I was the chief of staff for 15 months,” he said. ”I don’t know the people on the inside circle these days, so I can’t give any names of folks who come to mind, but … if you know where the safe is and you know the documents are in 10 boxes in the basement, you’re pretty close to the president.”
It has been widely reported that the FBI was searching for “classified” documents being stored on the property; however, former Trump aide Kash Patel says the documents in question had long been declassified.
Serious questions have been raised about the appropriateness of the raid and whether the Biden administration abused its power. Not only did the FBI raid the home of a former president, but the DOJ also sought approval from an anti-Trump magistrate judge.
Fueling speculation that the administration knew it was doing something inappropriate is the fact that the White House distanced itself from the raid, claiming that no one, including staffers or Joe Biden, knew about it.

Mulvaney is like Trumps own Dick Morris.
The left: “A unnamed source told us of another unnamed source that has a anonymous source that anonymously named a source that was unnamed that says Trump is gay and killed his ex-wife”
I wonder:
If, as Trump says, this is a hoax, then did anyone really tip off about anything?
Ok, if there was a “tip off” was it really? THIS FBI is more likely to be coercing someone than someone acting as a willing inside source.
Finally, I don’t care if it is real or it was a real tip off. Some people are above the law. Some people held highly classified information and were allowed to slide.
He knows nothing and he's frustrated he's no longer relevant.
Tipped them off to what, though? That’s what I want to know.
If there was a mole, it was Orange Man himself.
If a guy that has lived the life Trump has had anything to hide, it isn’t going to be in his bathroom closet.
Fake news.
Saying the raid was based on a tip is just another way to make it appear justified. In other words, if they can convince everyone they received a tip - that suggests the raid was based on something.
There was no tip - the raid was not based on anything - it was a PR stunt to reinforce the narrative that Trump is a criminal.
Well, maybe that.....
or NO ONE anywhere near Trump “Tipped off the FBI”, and they (or the DOJ) made up the ‘reasons’ for the raid themselves, the same way they made up the” Russia, Russia, Russin investigation”.
Mulvaney saying that ‘someone tipped off the FBI’ makes it sound like there was really some illegal thing there. He should choose his words better.... Or just shut the hell up.
Maybe not. Could just be a tactic to sow distrust.
Could have been a secret service agent fly on the wall.
PDJT played the DOJ like a Strad.
Is my theory.
Seems like the tipster would have provided better intel. The raiders look stupid.
Mulvany is talking out his ass. He will never work for Trump again and hopefully no other America first administration.
If there’s a shred of truth to this notion, it’s more likely someone close to Trump was blackmailed into providing info to the FB(E). (Federal Bureau of Entrapment)
I have never trusted Jared or Ivanka.
“Tipped them off to what exactly?”
Exactly my question.
[Or the anonymous source was just a made up person created by the FBI]
BINGO!
