Hawley: Attorney General Merrick Garland ‘Must Resign’ After Raid on Trump’s Home

I don't know if they will go as far as imprisoning Trump (although an earlier Democratic President did that to a political opponent--Woodrow Wilson to Eugene Debs) since that might create too much of a backlash, but they are experts at overdoing it (cf. the Wellstone funeral). They may be satisfied with just declaring him ineligible to hold office. That would be legally questionable but states with Democratic attorneys general may rule that his name cannot appear on the ballot in their state.

The prediction that an election will be cancelled keeps resurfacing...I can remember it from when Nixon was President. They don't need to cancel the election when they can win by cheating.
