My goodness! I receive SS and I think this is an awful idea. The way to increase the SS fund is to get more people back into the work force. The Labor Participation rate is something like 62.2 percent.
We need to quit paying able-bodied young men and women to sit at home and require them to work and pay into the SS system that they will depend upon at retirement age. I worked and paid SS taxes from the time I was about 16. Now we have people perfectly able to work but who have never worked a day in their life but will be receiving benefits.
I was 15 1/2.
The youngest that was legal at the time. (1979)
But I'd been working part-time off the books off and on since I was 12.
At 12 I started learning how to pour concrete while helping
to renovate a miniature golf course.
And 'Pleasant Valley Miniature Golf' - and some of my handiwork - still stands!

SS has always been a pay as you go system. Your generation agreed to pay oldsters income by taking your money and paying them. There is no investment, no gains for SS paid in, it all goes into the general fund and is spent. Eventually the young will see what a terrible deal this is for their own investments and future. But oldsters vote in huge numbers so not likely we will see them voting to reduce the stealing from their kids and grandkids to pay them. There should never have been a federal method that passed constitutional muster to take from one citizen and pay another for any reason unless they were actually working and performing a service for the government.
There are quite a few folks getting SS who should be dropped.
Young able bodied folk, some illegals, its not just retirees.
This program is not largess or some welfare. This money was taken from us for 50 working years. Had it been in interest bearing or invested accounts, it would have grown to far more than what we now get.
While I know the dumblecrats moved the money to the general fund and spent every dime of it years ago, if you want to end the program as the article mentions, you return our money to us in full...with interest.
With all the socialist and communist loving people supporting the DNC, just put them on Collective’s and let them support themselves. This is what communism is about; social democracy not so much.
Wages need to go up.
