Washington Post and MSNBC contributor Washington Post and MSNBC contributor Jonathan Capehart compared Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and former President Trump to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader in "Star Wars" on Friday.
Capehart and New York Times columnist David Brooks appeared on "PBS News Hour" with Judy Woodruff to discuss various topics, including Cheney's upcoming primary.
Brooks called Cheney "a hero," but noted she is behind her Republican challenger by more than 22 percent and likely to lose her seat. That's when Capehart praised her as comparable to a beloved Jedi.
"And, look, I keep thinking about the scene in ‘Star Wars: Episode IV,’ when Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi are battling it out on the Death Star. And Obi-Wan says to Darth Vader, ‘If you strike me down, I will come back more powerful than you can imagine,’" Capehart said. He explained, "And, to me, Liz Cheney is Obi-Wan Kenobi. If she loses, which she very well might lose her primary on August 16, she could very well come back more powerful than Donald Trump has imagined. And if her goal is to ensure that he never comes within any manner of feet of the Oval Office, if she can succeed in doing that, she will have done a major service to the American experiment."

Dream on. Capehart and Brooks aren’t this stupid. They know the GOP rank and file don’t support the Liz Cheneys of the world. The Deep State will prop her up as an independent candidate, just as they did with Evan Egg McMuffin in 2016, and like McMuffin Cheney will be an insignificant factor in 2024.

PBS, fearing that they will not achieve their goal of sinking lower than any entity in the history of the multiverse, has attained a 90 degree pitch attitude, lit the afterburners, and are hoping that their silly worthless lib arts degrees will save them from what we will delightfully witness in the hopefully not distant future. They are indeed a true example of a “ship of fools”.
The majority of the GOP clearly detests her, even many of those who are not ardent Trump supporters themselves. And for the Democrats, she's only a momentary ally of convenience. They hate pretty much everything about her except that she hates Trump.

Where can she go to win any elective office? New York has a history of welcoming carpet baggers. Maybe she can run for Senate like Hillary did. But it’s a bit late for her to challenge Schumer this fall. Maybe she can go after Gillibrand’s seat in ‘24, but she might have to deal with AOC.
Hope there aren’t enough dems in Wyoming to let her win her primary.
