I wouldn't change a word of his argument.
We would have invaded Mexico or Canada had they done the Dane
We have invaded Mexico for much less actually
I saw RW Pro’s and Cons of Hitchhiking in 1985 - during peak Reagan and I don’t remember it being political at all. Anti war, sure, but no “Republicans suck! vote democrat” brain deadness. The Springsteen show 6 months earlier was more political.
The show was excellent. I missed Eric Clapton on guitar, but Mel Collins on sax made up for it.
High school dropouts that have hung around dope smokers, drunks and drug addicts for the last 60 years probably shouldn’t be our thought leaders.
“ I warn you probably will find it depressing on first listen.”
Seems like the songs that didn’t make it onto “The Wall.” Once I got through the first two verses of “The post war dream,” yeah, I got depressed. A bit too dark for me. The saxophone player on the album is unreal.
I’ll have to finish it.
We would have invaded Mexico or Canada had they done the same
We have invaded Mexico for much less actually
It’s far more complicated than Russia invaded Ukraine
And I know you’re a series poster I acknowledge that
Boy, I sure was mad, though. Really soured me on being able to enjoy their music.
I hear ya. A good friend and I went to see The Pretenders in the early 90s. We both really liked their music.
We had been warned about the pasty-faced anti-meat people who greeted concertgoers at the entrance to the arena with “Meat is Evil” flyers/pamphlets. So, we went to our favorite barbecue restaurant for dinner before the concert and enjoyed brisket, pork ribs and chicken.
Then, Chrissie Hynde opens the concert by making a snide comment about how, since this is Texas, we all must have our guns with us, right? She also did the tired “Meat is Murder” thing. You could kind of feel the whole audience simultaneously rolling our eyes. A guy behind us muttered “Shut up and sing,” which she finally did after failing to get the desired reaction from us.
Unfortunately, it kind of tainted their music for me.
That’s good - I’m glad it was a good show.
Read Post 21. It sounds like they may have degenerated a tad by 2004…
I sure have more respect, even for Lefties, if they just keep their damn mouths shut and entertain.
There is still great fondness for The Pretenders’ “My City was Gone”
Rush’s bumper music. 🙂 And it’s what I’ll always think of when I hear it.
I love The Final Cut.
2 suns in the sunset. The Exocet missile impact audio is awesome.
The “bleeding hearts and artists” have their place, but not in politics.
Oh wait. He gets everything wrong. So I agree with none of it.
Next question, why are so many Brits such ungrateful sods over the aid the U.S. gave them during WW-I and II? Russia, I understand, but Britain? Russia won the war without the U.S.? Since when was that decided by who? The U.S. gave Russia aid during WW-II, not the other way around.
Noting your link concerned a funeral in Buriatia I decided to learn more about the Boriat people at the link below.
Buriats like other non-Slav Russian peoples are being used disproportionately in the Ukraine fight. There are less than 1/2 million Buriats and Putin is killing off their young men at a far greater rate than ethnic-Slavs. Social services and wages are far lower in Buriat territory than more prosperous areas of Russia. There is now an international group supporting the Buriat people and objecting to the Ukraine invasion and decimation.
