Arizona Republicans are nominating an entire cast of characters who argue not only that Donald Trump won the election in 2020, but also that the state’s results should be decertified—a process for which there is no legal basis.
These Trump-endorsed candidates—Kari Lake for governor, Mark Finchem for secretary of state, Abraham Hamadeh for attorney general, Blake Masters for senator—all won their respective primaries this week and are now one election away from political power.
“Stop the Steal” candidates are running—and winning—all over the country. But Arizona concentrates a lot of them within a single geographic area—like an ant farm of election deniers.
Lake might prove the most significant of these candidates. Lake’s lead over her top Republican opponent, Karrin Taylor Robson, had grown to nearly 3 percent when the gubernatorial primary race was finally called in her favor on Thursday night.
Before becoming an enthusiastic proponent of Trump’s election lies, Lake was a local TV-news anchor, making her a household name in Arizona and giving her something that many political candidates lack: confidence in front of the camera. Like Trump, Lake has a difficult-to-describe magnetism with Republican-base voters; they simply cannot get enough of her.

Yup! Gotta watch out for those “MVE” threats to our ‘demokcracy’ according to the fbi. You know, folks that might buy into that constitution thing and rights and stuff. Hey atlantic, phu cough! 🚫🐂💩
Yes, they will deny that. That is there MO for pretty much everything. They will argue all day about whether the sky is blue, if it means conceding a point about an issue. Eventually, if overwhelming proof is just too much to keep covered up, you’ll get something like “That’s Totally Not Happening (But it’s Good That It Is, You Totally Deserve It”
If you pay attention, you’ll see that one all the time. They will usually go through stages, something like this:
1. There is absolutely no Election Fraud*
2. There is no widespread Election Fraud
3. There is some isolated election fraud, though not enough to matter.
4. OK, the election was pretty hinky, but there’s nothing to be done about it.
5. Donald Trump won in 2020, and is therefore ineligible to run again
* When democrats win.
The willful ignorance of the left would be comical were it not so pathetic.
The leftists are scared. They know they stole the 2020 election so now they say trying to decertify is the thing that has no legal basis.
We must destroy these people.
Accuse the other side of what you are doing - or in this case, what you are, fringe
“They are afraid, very afraid.”
Good. But afraid isn’t enough. I want them to be terrified that they will be out of power and remain out of power, at least until they embrace Americanism and start to honor and respect the Constitution, at which point they will have to prove it.
If I am sitting in the far left of Marxism, normal American ideology is going to seem as far to my right as the Andromeda Galaxy seems to the Milky Way.
There have already been admissions, the article about how they “fortified” the election was pretty much that.
This writer is an insufferable liberal Democrat biased as one would expect from the Atlantic. She, like so many other DC writers, interviews a couple of people that play into her narrative that Kari Lake will give Katie Hobbs a better chance to win. Ms. Lake better make sure she has a strategy to watch all election boxes, especially in Maricopa and Pinal counties.
You can reach Elaine Godfrey here:
egodfrey@theatlantic.com to tell here how wrong she is. I just did.
The Atlantic is a reliable repository of flaming leftist bull****.
Whoa baby! They’re sure is a ton of hand wringing and teeth gnashing going on from The Establishment deep state media.
The Atlantic?
They’re not the only publication...

Arizona Has Become a Paradise for Election Deniers

Just tell us what’s wrong with 2000 MULES, and we’ll shut up.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
...still waiting.
I will read this later for the schadenfreude at what will certainly be some serious whining.
I love the way lefty birdcage liners do their best to slip in little lies along with the big ones (”election deniers”) - for example, there’s this bit: “ . . . Joe Biden is still unpopular; inflation is still high; America might soon be entering a recession.” Hey, jerkweed Atlantic writer - there’s no “might” about it - the country’s been in a recession for months, and only ‘recession deniers’ refuse to acknowledge that fact.
Wow,no bias in that article./s
It’s already begun. Articles like this bring out the posers. Its like throwing out a piece of raw meat knowing the flies are on their way.
Exactly.🙄
How do you know that isn’t the plan? Easy to take out in the general.
The jury is just now going into deliberation, but she just MIGHT be a leader like Trump or DeSantis, but frankly better looking, AND as Ms. Jobs astutely observes, even more confident and talented when the cameras are on.
BTW, has anyone heard anything from the McCain faction around here since about this time Friday?
