The learning curve on smart TVs is pretty flat. You’ll figure it out. With ROKU you do not need cable

That’s exactly what we now do, too ;-)

You have to set up the connection to your router (unless the service provider hard wires the TV) On the home screen just roll up the menu until you see “Connections” choose “Wireless” click on your network (Generally the first connection you see if the router is close) and type in the password. Easy Peasey

On the home screen, there is also a “Search” option. You roll to it EXACTLY the same way that you rolled to the “Connection.”

Search for programs you like or types of programs you like using the search functions. It will give you a list and let you add that channel. Some are free and some are a five or six-dollar subscription. Add the channels you want

Some good ones are, FreeVee, Pluto, Filmrise, Crackle, Vudu, Peacock, The Roku Channel, FilmRise, & Tubi. If you set up your cell phone there through T-Mobile they’ll give you basic Netflicks. You can also access YouTube and Rumble on your TV that way. Many local channels have an internet presence so you can get local stations and news that way. My Chinese wife can even access Soap Operas and reality TV from the PRC.

“..Yes they are scared...”

And the godless, demonic communists should be.
There are large numbers praying that God takes em out of power....even IF He has to kill em to do it.

I have been looking for that gif and you found it. It is from the movie, “Kingsman: The Secret Service.”

Here is the You Tube version:

It must be parodied and ridiculed, but without making anyone feel sorry for Brandon.

Thank you for all that advice!! :-)

We are in the process of moving from Connecticut to South Carolina. Here in CT we have a "dumb TV", an HD flat screen from 2011 - no ROKU.

In SC we have a brand-new SONY Smart TV that I haven't figured out yet (as far as streaming), except you push buttons for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney and YouTube. There are also Yellow, Blue, Red and Green buttons (labeled that way). I don't know what they mean. There are some other "mystery" buttons as well.

I'm not in SC now, but the last time I looked at the remote, I couldn't figure out how to download apps for all the channels. Why these things don't come with basic instructions, I'll never know.

When I get a chance, I'm going to go back to Best Buy and ask the guys/gals in the TV dept. some questions about how to stream shows with our specific TV model. And find out what those mystery buttons are.

Back to the old TV in CT: Wouldn't I just plug a ROKU into the HDMI port on the back of our TV?

We do subscribe to one streaming service called "Walter Presents". They have a lot of foreign language shows. We've mostly been watching the Danish show 'Seaside Hotel' there. Right now we're charged the $5.99 per month on our Cox Cable bill. That will have to change once we get rid of cable in CT when we move out for good.

You can do that. The system cost about $40 at Walmart (at least in Texas)

We have Spectrum with cable, internet and phone service. Our bill is $209 a month. We do not have HBO, Showtime and a bunch more. Very little extras.

We're in the process of moving from Connecticut to South Carolina. In CT we've had Cox Cable for years (TV, internet, phone). We pay just slightly more than you do. Cox's technology is EXCELLENT.

In SC we have kind of a basic cable service with Spectrum (no Cox there), although they give us HBO for some reason. The price is about $160/month (TV and internet).

Spectrum's TV technology is awful - it's like we've gone back 20 years. You can't speak into the remote to search for shows, movies, etc. We use that feature constantly. They don't give you much room to record shows with their DVR. There are many other annoyances too numerous to list here. Cox and Comcast are *light years* ahead of Spectrum.

Once I *someday* figure out streaming, we will probably ditch cable for good. That will be after my head isn't overloaded with *moving* details! ;-D
