Russia may launch an offensive in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson to try to wrest back momentum from Kyiv and has been visibly building up forces, Ukrainian General Oleksiy Hromov said on Thursday.
Russia holds swathes of Ukraine's south that it captured in the early phases of its Feb. 24 invasion, but Kyiv has vowed to mount a major counter-offensive and used sophisticated western weapons to hit Russian supply lines and ammo dumps.
Hromov said Russia had brought in a large amount of weapons and hardware to the northeast of the strategically important southern region of Kherson, much of which is occupied by Russia.
"It's possible the enemy may or will try to carry out offensive operations deep into our territory in order to seize the initiative and threaten the development of our success in order to force the (Ukrainian army) to stop expanding bridgeheads and go on the defensive," he told a news conference.

Putin should have studied "Austerlitz". He's not much of a war historian. LOL!
Alas, the UA high command is proving its incompetence in the south by withdrawing arty support in the Donetsk and misusing western artillery while the troops are less able to withstand the Russians.
Meanwhile, Ukraine troops are deserting

You believed the video? Because?
Big Russian offensive is supposed to start tomorrow. Putin to attack Mykolaiv and Kryvyi Rih to draw Ukrainian troops away from Kherson.
Alas, the UA high command is proving its incompetence in the south by withdrawing arty support in the Donetsk...
LOL, it is quite unbelievable. Moving artillery out of Donbass fortifications made them indefensible, now Russian artillery is not merely dominant but also unopposed.
Naturally there are reports of major Uke defense positions (Peski, Avdeevka, etc) taken by Russia and staggering numbers of Uke casualties (infantry was not moved out).
And today Zaluzhny is asking for permission to move some artillery back.
The Battle of Kherson is really the Battle of Nova Kakhovka. Watch Nova Kakhovka.
LOL. What I find soectacular about you, troll, is the complete lack of cognitive dissonance and basic shame.
What happened to the ongoing Ukrainian Kherson counter-offensive with thousands of trapped orcs?
Have the advancing Ukrainian armies evaporated?
Not surprising that the Russian propagandists are crying for more Ukrainian artillery in Donestsk and less Ukrainian artillery in Kherson all of a sudden.
Whatever happened to the Ukraine offensive to take-back Kherson we were told so much about 3 weeks ago?
Why does Putin all of a sudden need a “Southern Offensive”. LOL!
Why does Putin need a “Southern Offensive” all of a sudden?
Any day now....😬
Whatever happened to the Ukraine offensive to take-back Kherson we were told so much about 3 weeks ago?
Postponed until 2023, but still on, and the movie production has not stopped.
Rationale (per Uke Wehrmacht Command): only 30% of the needed artillery were assembled.
“It’s possible the enemy may or will try to carry out offensive operations deep into our territory in order to seize the initiative and threaten the development of our success in order to force the (Ukrainian army) to stop expanding bridgeheads and go on the defensive,”
Because only the stupid thought Ukraine’s “million man offensive” would take back Kherson from Russia.
