A standoff between Dutch farmers and their government is causing havoc in the Netherlands this summer. Protesters have withheld deliveries from grocery stores, smeared manure outside the home of the agriculture minister, and blocked highways with hay bales and tires. “That’s what you get when you make people so very angry,” Sieta van Keimpema, secretary of the Farmers Defense Force (FDF), said July 27 as the group launched a fresh round of demonstrations.
What’s driving the dispute? Manure. The Netherlands’ intensive livestock farming system produces an unusual excess of animal feces. When mixed with urine, those feces give off ammonia and nitrous oxide. The former is a pollutant that can leak into air and water, harming local wildlife. The latter is a potent greenhouse gas that traps heat in our atmosphere: the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says nitrous oxide accounts for around 6% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
In June, the Netherlands unveiled a world-leading target to halve emissions of the gasses, as well as other nitrogen compounds that come from fertilizers, by 2030, to tackle their environmental and climate impacts. The government said it was leading an “unavoidable transition” for agriculture. Farmers can reduce the release of nitrogen compounds by changing how they manage their cows: feeding them less protein, or using water to dilute manure, for example. But the target is expected to require a 30% reduction in overall livestock numbers, and experts say many farms will have to shut down. Farmers are demanding that the government rethink the plan before it becomes law later this year.

“The government said it was leading an “unavoidable transition” for agriculture.”
I heard on the radio this morning that European airports will be limiting the amount of passengers they will allow to fly because of “climate change”.
These climate zealots will be the ruin of the world.
There is no climate crisis. This made-up emergency is being used to destroy capitalism and the free west. It is being used to control the world under a group of deviate communists. We have to stop going along with the climate change crap. Just be good stewards of the earth, as instructed, which can be done locally.
The Farmers have presented methods to address problems with waste but the Judges are bound by laws that will not allow any alternative for ‘disposal’.
Over 11,000 farms will be subject to the mandates.
What a bunch of BS! The issue is not manure but the Dutch government actively trying to destroy farms and most of the country’s cattle, and crushing the farmers who refuse. THAT’s the issue!
True.
I have been fairly close to the Dutch community here in Canada for years. You won’t find a harder working, cleaner people.
***What’s driving the dispute? Manure.***
All manure is only Fertilizer. So what’s the problem!
In Asia they use human “Night soil” to fertilize their crops.
In the Ozarks tens of thousands of chickens are raised for food and the poop is...fertilizer.
Hog farms the same. Same for cattle feed lots. Just make sure they are NOT upwind of you!
No sh*t. (Because of turds in office.)
Looks like Dutch farmers are more proactive and have more manhood than any American or Canadian ones.
That’s interesting because every time I drive in Canada and on the QEW, I am impressed at how nice it looks compared to America.
EU: Look, just let the government take away your land and kill all your animals. We need to go ahead and get this famine started. Once we lose a couple billion people off the population then we can worry about food.
The WEF crowd seems to be shooting their Wad around the world....in fear of SOMETHING...
“feces give off ammonia and nitrous oxide...”
What they never mention are nitrogen fixing plants like clover and legumes that recycle it all back into the soil, which of course, are cow food.
What is ridiculous is that the left wants to go green, and by not using artificial fertilizers, they will have to depend on natural ones, like manure.
And here they are, demanding cut backs in manure production.
So what are farmers supposed to fertilize their crops with?
It behooves people to grow their own. There is still enough of a growing season left to start some cold weather crops here in the north and across the south, the growing season is even longer.
People seriously need to start prepping. Especially with the monkeypox health emergencies declarations. They are just chomping at the bit to lock everyone down again and take away more of our rights over an illness that hasn’t even killed anyone yet.
1971
The last monetary reset in 1971 ushered in a new era for the world economy. Money growth exploded and inflation soared. While the US national debt was less than $500bn in 1971, it rose to $5.7tn in 2000, the last year when the US had a budget surplus.

They should capture the nitrous oxide and sell it to hot-rodders. See, easy peasy solution.
It is very simple, these charlatans who are making these decisions must be removed from power.
The climate fanatics are moving forward with their scam no matter what even if it kills 6 billion people
