TAMPA, Fla.— Today, Governor Ron DeSantis suspended State Attorney Andrew Warren of the 13th Judicial Circuit due to neglect of duty. The Governor has the authority to suspend a state officer under Article IV, Section 7 of the Constitution of the State of Florida. The Governor has appointed Susan Lopez to serve as State Attorney for the period of suspension. She has most recently been serving as a Judge on the Hillsborough County Court. “State Attorneys have a duty to prosecute crimes as defined in Florida law, not to pick and choose which laws to enforce based on his personal agenda,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “It is my duty to hold Florida’s elected officials to the highest standards for the people of Florida. I have the utmost trust that Judge Susan Lopez will lead the office through this transition and faithfully uphold the rule of law.”
“I have the utmost respect for our state laws and I understand the important role that the State Attorney plays in ensuring the safety of our community and the enforcement of our laws,” said Susan Lopez, State Attorney of the 13th Judicial Circuit. “I want to thank the Governor for placing his trust in me, and I promise that I will faithfully execute the duties of this office.”
The Governor has the authority under the Florida Constitution to suspend state officials for reasons of misfeasance, malfeasance, neglect of duty, drunkenness, incompetence, permanent inability to perform official duties, or commission of a felony. The Governor has further authority to fill that office by appointment for the duration of the suspension.
Susan Lopez was appointed by Governor DeSantis to serve as a judge on the Hillsborough County Court in 2021. She previously served as Assistant State Attorney of the 13th Judicial Circuit for more than 15 years and as Staff Attorney of the Second District Court of Appeal. She received her bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College and her law degree from Suffolk University. She is a long-time resident of Tampa and has been involved in the Hillsborough community through a variety of organizations for many years.
He was physically removed from his office, escorted out by the sheriff — couldn't take any documents — and immediately replaced. Erased from the position.
This is how it's done, no matter your complaints.
Basically it says that The Governor can SUSPEND the State Atty, after which it is up to THE STATE to remove and or arrest him if necessary.
It was a long read, which is why I suspect some other long term freepers are just getting cranky in their old age.
I thought we here are FR tried to be supportive. Come on guys and gals, are we destined to destroy ourselves (FR) from within ?
I don ‘t support that.

Trump deserves another term for what they have put him and everyone around thru!!!!
See, all we need to do is use the law, not cower away from it because some liberals might get upset.
Feel free to fix this description if I have not described this well.
Thanks for that!
So.... you are saying YOU took the time to read it (took me about 10 minutes), but don’t have the 60 seconds it would take to answer another poster’s question ?
Or is this just “RUDE TO RANDOM POSTER’S DAY” on FR ?
Yup, that’s my Gov’ner. Long may he stay in Florida!
“Good thing I have a robot mower which does 90% of my backyard.”
Haha! I know, it’s been hot here in NE Florida but several years ago I just started getting my yard done by writing a check... Money well spent in summer, here.
OK fine.
The order says, “suspended without pay”, to answer your question.
Removal is an act of the Legislature.
I have no idea what you are talking about. I would be happy to answer any questions.
Another one who didn't read the order.
No, he's not being paid.
FANTASTIC!!!!!!
We, in Florida, live here for a reason. OK, lots of them. Desantis is a big one!
Mike Waltz replaced him in Congress. The jury’s still out on him. We jad high hopes. But he’s full Neocon on endless wars, especially Ukraine. Junkets and all. And gets serious $$$ from defense contractors.
I won’t be voting for Waltz again. And I campaigned for him last run, and the previous one. Never again.
Not just that...police say he was problematic for failing to prosecute some crimes, and I doubt they are referring to the trans crap.
“So what laws was he not enforcing?”
Hopefully other states have the same thing in their constitutions and the govs can start getting rid of the Soros acolytes.
“Andrew Warren is a fraud,” former Tampa police Chief Brian Dugan said. “This is a terrible day, that the governor had to come and clean up our mess.”
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said police have had long-running frustrations with Warren for not prosecuting particular cases.
“I continue to work with my law enforcement counterparts who
privately are frustrated with the state attorney, who seems
intently focused on empathy for criminals and less interested in
pursuing justice for crime victims,” Chronister said Thursday.
Warren is a SCUMBAG. Glad he’s out for now.
So is this guy one of these SOROS elected scum coming up through the ranks is a state attorney different than a DA?? GO DeSantis I really wish DeSantis was down on the border in Texas that damn border would be shut down AND all of the millions of dollars in supplies for that wall sitting there rusting away would be being used to build the damn wall!! DeSants is a GREAT Governor I envy the people of Florida WHY IN THE HELL can’t the rest of our SQUISH Republican governors follow his example!! I KNOW Kari Lake will also be a Governor in the DeSantis mold the good people of Texas had the chance to get rid of Abbott for a true fighter but chose not to SUCH A SHAME a chance wasted!
Exactly, the state Senate is the only one that can relieve an elected official from their duties. Makes sense, you wouldn’t want just one person in an executive position to be able to fire an official that the people voted in.
