When Ray Epps, now 61, arrived in Washington DC in early January, 2021, he believed he was answering the call of his president.
Mr Epps was one of the thousands of MAGA loyalists who believed former President Donald Trump's lie that the 2020 election had been stolen. He also thought he and a throng of conservative allies would protest the election's certification.

I think Mr. E has a deal worked out on some legal problems going back five to ten years, and he’s promised for some ‘work’...he won’t be charged-up.

Conservatives don’t “blame” Epps for the riot. They wonder why the guy caught on several cameras encouraging rioters to commit crimes didn’t get arrested like the people he was encouraging were.

We only want equal justice. Why was he not charged, when others were jailed for less.

Ah the absurd dogmatic presumption of the Left...er I mean "news article" bakes in. They presume the election was not stolen. They presume Trump knows the election was not stolen but decided to lie about it. They presume that the reason others believe it was stolen was because Trump decided to lie about it.
The copious amount of evidence of it being stolen need not even be considered, but presumably waved away automagically with ridiculous David Hume level circular logic: Those who say they saw evidence are lying because there is no evidence. Those who report evidence are lying or deceived. And there is no reason to take any report of evidence seriously or examine its merits because there is no evidence...
It is simply a concerted effort by the media to portray him as a victim.
once you have congressman publicly thanking mr epps for his cooperation, you have to be willfully blind not to see the game. (as if it wasn’t obvious just from the fact he wasn’t thrown in the gulag)
