Russia has said its forces have destroyed two U.S.-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, also known as HIMARS, in Ukraine.
The number adds to the four HIMARS launchers that Russia claimed to have destroyed over a two-week period in July.
A "high-precision" strike in Kharkiv took out the systems and killed 53 people, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesperson for the Russian defense ministry, said in an announcement on Monday, according to Russian state news agency TASS.
"As a result of a high-precision strike in the city of Kharkiv, on the territory of the Ukrainian Energy Machines plant, two American launchers of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems were destroyed," Konashenkov said. "53 Ukrainian nationalists and foreign mercenaries were also destroyed."

Technically, when a missile strikes its target, the missile is destroyed...
“The Soviets employed maskirovka (military deception) to mask defensive positions and troop dispositions and to conceal the movement of men and materiel. These included camouflaging gun emplacements, constructing dummy airfields and depots, generating false radio-traffic, and spreading rumours among the Soviet frontline troops and the civilian population in the German-held areas. Movement of forces and supplies to and from the salient took place at night only. Ammunition caches were carefully concealed to blend in with the landscape. Radio transmission was restricted and fires were forbidden. Command posts were hidden and motor transport in and around them forbidden.”
“The Red Army repaired many of its damaged tanks; many Soviet tanks were rebuilt up to four times to keep them in the fight.”

At 5.1m a pop, (launcher and ammo), kind of expensive.
“By now I assume foreign mercenaries and advisors have been alerted to not turn on their phones with Euro and US country codes”
Sending US phones to Ukraine would be comparatively cheap.
The crew’s Recon officer picks the firing points for his platoon usually shortly before firing. He’s supposed to send the firing coordinates via encrypted radio transmission. Since it’s 1st of the month I can see a platoon having expired crypto and transmitting in the plain thus giving away the firing points. By doctrine that cancels the mission. No crypto, no missions.
So it could have happened. But I doubt it. Just follow the manual and training and everyone wins and lives.
Lol. Milley. Lol.

Agree, to which I will add, "I don’t trust anything the US government says." *sigh* I miss the days when the US government was pro-American.
if I was a betting man, I would not bet on NATO
oddly turkey is taking the lead on peace
If 2 are destroyed and at least one sold off how many are left?
The Russians I believe built over 10,000 “Stalin organ” rocket launchers in WW2 and used them in “shoot & scoot” mode.
What a great source you got there.
At the battle of Kursk, Germany lost 1,000 tanks and assault guns, and Russia lost 6,000. That’s called a victory for Russia.
If this war were just Russia against Ukraine, that same arithmetic would apply. But, Ukraine is being supplied by the U.S. and others. For example, the himars are coming from U.S.
Well the Germans weren't able to stop the Soviet advance. They also weren't able to replace the tanks they lost. The Russians could.
Back in WWII the fertility rate in the 1910's and 1920's for the women who gave birth to Soviet soldiers was over 7. The fertility rates for Russian women in the 1990's who gave birth to the current Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine was about 1.5. Russia can't afford lots of battles with high losses. Furthermore over a quarter million Russians have left Russia since the beginning of the war. Most of those who left are young and educated, especially in the IT field.
all himars is is “shoot & scoot”
they say is high precision but that requires targeting solutions, and set up gets you killed
LOL, Ruskies are claiming to have destroyed half, of the twelve HIMARS, which US has denied. Since they look like trucks, I'm not surprised the Ruskies are overestimating kills.
So that means that half weren’t.
L
Better than Ruskie sources. Where is the captured US general or the captured Canadian general? Why no pictures of HIMARS destroyed by the Ruskies?

Agree 💯
The Allies rebuilt a lot of Shermans, whereas the Krauts had logistical problems due to Allied bombing of their factories, which hampered maintenance and repair of their Panzers.
