I t6hink it will eventually happen. China has coveted that region for a loooong time; hell, China believes — with some justification — that it is and always has been part of China.
Communists are good at taking over a successful country. Let capitalism thrive and create, build wealth, increase technology, then take it over with force. Within a few years the entire economy will collapse.

They are opportunists. But they will shy away from attacking a country that will fight back.
China has held Formosa/Taiwan off and on, mostly very tenuously. The native population throughout history wasn’t Chinese at all, but a bunch of Austronesian tribes. All the Chinese there now are descendants of settlers in modern times.
There was no significant Chinese settlement there until after the Dutch started importing Chinese in some numbers in the 17th century.
My concern would be that it isn’t just an exercise...!

Yes. The Portuguese had named it Formosa, and the Spanish tried to set up a colony there.
At what point will Wallmart return all of the Chinese products and refuse to sell anything made there?
