The rouble is soaring and Putin is stronger than ever - our sanctions have backfired
The Guardian ^ | 29 Jul 2022 | Simon Jenkins

Western sanctions against Russia are the most ill-conceived and counterproductive policy in recent international history.

World energy prices are rocketing, inflation is soaring, supply chains are chaotic and millions are being starved of gas, grain and fertiliser.

Defence analysts are dumb on the subject. Strategy thinktanks are silent. Yet, hint at scepticism on the subject and you will be excoriated as “pro-Putin” and anti-Ukraine.

The reality of sanctions on Russia is that they invite retaliation. Putin is free to freeze Europe this winter. He has slashed supply from major pipelines such as Nord Stream 1 by up to 80%. World oil prices have surged and eastern Europe’s flow of wheat and other foodstuffs to Africa and Asia has been all but suspended.

Britain’s domestic gas bills face tripling inside a year. The chief beneficiary is none other than Russia, whose energy exports to Asia have soared, driving its balance of payments into unprecedented surplus. The rouble is one of the world’s strongest currencies this year, having strengthened since January by nearly 50%.

Sanctions have promoted trade with China, Iran and India.

They knew this. A third grader could have told them. This is the make it hurt strategy of Obama to get rid of “fossil” fuels.
The covid lockdowns and vaxxes people kneeled to are the first chains of bondage. And a Republican prez did it.
The left now has no restraint. And they are just getting warmed up.
Death is not bondage.. the fear of death absolutely will enslave you. Republicans have kneeled one time too many. The needle kneelers, will turn you in to the gulag patrol.
I am reading the gulag archipelago. We are living it, since J6.

Sounds familiar.

OK Mainstream Media, are you ready to wake up now and realize that STOLEN ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES?

Who will be the brave journalists who become the new generation Woodward and Bernstien, reporting the TRUTH?

There’s enough evidence from Arizona and Wisconsin, plus witness testimony from PA, GA and a dozen other states to fill a prize winning series of eye-opening artucles.

Who will stand up for the TRUTH?

If the the US had a President that allowed our domestic production of oil to max out we could lower the price of oil, undercutting Russia’s gain in their biggest income producer. Who could have imaged Biden would use this opportunity to destroy our domestic production

Russian revenues have already passed the peak they experienced from the wartime price surge.

Hard times are ahead for them, as their budget deficit grows, their economy continues to implode, talent and investment flees, they print rubles at a rate that would make the Chinese communists blush, and their Government bonds have gone into default for the first time since 1917.

Expect more of these propaganda pieces in the coming months, trying to convince the West to surrender - lift sanctions and remain dependent on Russian oil and gas supply, so they can continue to crush innocent civilian populations by the millions in a brutal campaign of conquest, centered on targeting civilians, razing homes and systematically torturing and murdering any who resist losing their freedom.

Decent people cannot accept Russia’s savagery. They must be stopped, and it won’t be easy. But they must be stopped.

Strange though, the Russian economy is having so much trouble at sourcing goods on top of them exporting. Sanctions cut both ways & its biting!

Simon Jenkins... He’s written for The Guardian for a long time. He wrote for the Huffington Post. He wrote that the UK should cut its defense funding—all of it. He wrote against Brexit.

As the onion is peeled, things will get mighty uncomfortable for some dishonest people.

Remember:

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more - we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

SURE! Way to go, Brandon. Just add this Ukraine debacle to the long and growing list: Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. . Ooops, forgot a couple: climate change and COVID response/madness.

I've got an idea. Let's stir up crap with China (Taiwan), and pretty soon nobody will even notice the ludicrous, assinine debacle called Ukraine.
