Detectives are asking for the public's help to identify the suspect in an attempted murder from July 24 near Lake Mead and Thomas W. Ryan Blvd.
Anyone who recognizes this person or has any info about this crime is urged to contact detectives at 702-828-9455.

In Latin America, there are entire walled-in villages for the professional class with their own health clinics, restaurants, and shopping centers.
Lots of neighbors have those “electrified wires” here in North Idaho. But they are used to keep pesky white tails out of the garden, not pesky ferals on the loose.

Yep, I was recently looking there and saw what I could, which was the exposed areas visible from public roads. All had walls or the equivalent to separate them from the streets, but of course the housing was run-down.
The big difference is that the neighborhood in South Africa WAS once just like a typical nice US neighborhood...but with the ‘revolution’ there and the crime that it set off, now the people, both white and black, who could not afford to leave, or waited too long, are totally stuck there...as their currency is next to worthless - so they have to do what they can to get by.

It’s a last line of defense inside a home, with the idea being that it will hold off the bad guys long enough for the security service to arrive (the police are useless). Similar to a safe room (or panic room).
Back in the 1980s in Kenya, as an expatriate family, our house had Mau Mau Gates to protect the bedroom wing, and each bedroom had a big red panic button that was wired to a siren and light on the roof.
If you pressed the button, it would alert the security guys down at the end of the block, and their instruction was to jump over the wall and kill everybody in the yard.
Those guys did not mess around.
CRAP! People in the US literally have NO CLUE as to how lucky they are and how bad it can get. The problem is once you get there, it’s next to impossible to put the genie back in the bottle.

These same people are not just doing it in one town or area. They’re doing this all over the nation. Truthfully, they seem to do it everywhere they exist.
God. I wish Putin would open his immigration gates to more of them. I think he let letting 600k into Russia. There are 6 million people trapped there.
I have a friend who got out a little over 20 years ago, and is *very* glad. Still goes over periodically on business. His wife will NEVER go back!
