Ukraine presses on with a plan for much-needed grain shipments after a Russian attack.

Ukraine is pressing ahead with its plan to resume grain exports across the Black Sea, a government official said on Monday, in the face of a Russian missile attack on the port of Odesa that raised doubts about the viability of an international agreement aimed at easing a global food shortage.

Millions of tons of grain in Ukraine’s ports have been held hostage by the war, but a deal struck on Friday in Istanbul that involved Turkey and the United Nations appeared to offer hope, especially for the countries in Africa and the Middle East most reliant on the country’s exports.

A day later, the missile strike, which damaged infrastructure at the port, called that deal into question. Under the agreement, Ukrainian captains would be protected as they sail their ships out of the port, which was seeded with mines to impede an assault on the city, and into the Black Sea where the Russian Navy is dominant.

Muddleheaded Ukraine leadership can’t get out of their own way and let things roll as planned. Sheesh....the blame game continues. Had they not mined the port in the first place, and resisted removing the mines things could have gone much smoother.

It was the UN that finally forced their hand on this, since they get stuck with disposing of all the bodies that the Neocons would have caused to starve to death.

It was similar at the Steelworks in Mariupol, where the Ukrainians kept bragging about their hostages...and then finally the UN came in there, and said “that’s enough”. And so the hostages were released and the Azovs had no choice but to surrender.

Story going around is that the Russian targeted military ships, not grain storage.

Did the UN-backed deal provide for third-party “blue helmet” monitoring at loading areas and destroyer escorts through the Black Sea?

Slight detail omitted in account, Ukraine attempted to move warship equipped with Harpoon Missiles using grain freighters as concealment.

Russia sank same shortly after it cast off.

As usual there’s always the true story after the media runs there’s to cover for Zelensky and Biden.

Story omits the obvious question: if military ships aren’t used by Ukraine to guide large vessels through mine infested waters then how does Russia expect Ukraine to hold up its end of the bargain?

Dinghies? Pedalos?

Russia by its own admission attacked a resource that Ukraine needs to be able to use.

Im actually stunned by the lack of critical thinking there - unless Russia were deliberately trying to derail Ukraine it makes no sense.

Yeah, the Ukes claim they use Harpoon Missiles to clear the Mines they indiscriminately laid in violation of International Conventions on War.

Bullcrap, Ukraine indiscriminately laid Mines in violation of International Conventions on War, and did so it poorly that many broke free of their mooring and free floated into most of the Black. It's ENTIRELY on Ukraine to remove those Mines at the necessary risk to their own Naval Vessels alone, not to Pilot for Grain Freighters.

Russia will Pilot and intercept Mines plus render immediate aid should one be undetected, and keep the designated shipping lanes as clear as possible.

AND Russia currently deploys several Mine Sweepers full time neutralizing as many Mines as possible, while the Ukes do nothing.
