Mississippi fires lawyer who was investigating Brett Favre's potential connection to $5 million payment to Southern Mississippi

The multi-million-dollar welfare scam in Mississippi is an onion with many levels. Some have been explored. Some haven’t. Now, some may be stopping others from the effort to keep peeling.

As reported by Mississippi Today, the state’s welfare department has fired attorney Brad Pigott, who was hired to get to the bottom of the scandal.

The firing happened a week after he sent a subpoena to the University of Southern Mississippi aimed at exploring why and how the school received $5 million in welfare funds to build a volleyball stadium.

“All I did, and I believe all that caused me to be terminated was to try to get the truth about all of that,” Pigott said on Friday.

“People are going to go to jail over this, at least the state should be willing to find out the truth of what happened.”

Pigott, in seeking more information about the $5 million payment to USM, was exploring the involvement of former NFL quarterback Brett Favre and former Mississippi governor Phil Bryant, among others. Favre played college football at USM an his daughter played volleyball at the school in 2017 and 2018.

The New York Times says Pigott told the Times that Favre had promised to give $5 million to the construction of the volleyball stadium. Pigott claims that Favre, instead of writing the check, asked the Mississippi Community Education Center to fund the project.

And the Mississippi Community Education Center was at the heart of the distribution of federal welfare money in a way that has created a major controversy in one of the nation’s poorest states.

Pigott told the Times that the center paid the $5 million, and then “disguised it as a payment for use of university facilities that did not occur.”

But how did Favre know who to ask to get the $5 million? It looks like he was in the loop.

Universities are corrupt. There is nothing in DC worse.

Examine any university athletic program and you will find corruption, but once corrupted the corruption spreads throughout.

Questions to the world…..Can anyone in the public sphere do anything right? Can anyone just do their jobs with integrity and not try to scam the public and taxpayers EVERY chance they get?

There are reasons guys like Musk and others go to the government for loans and such. If they fail…..oh well. Little to no oversight. Little to no accountability. Yes…..I know he repaid loans. I also know he pushed for the many tax breaks that got his cars sold.

Try going to to Wall St to borrow money. You’re gonna account for every EFFIN’ penny and you better have your paperwork in order.

RE: “The tax breaks that got Musk’s cars sold”-———

IF a person buys a GM or Ford or Chrysler EV, the tax break is $12,500.

But a Tesla ??? The tax break is only $7500.

$5000 LESS in tax break.

SOOOOOO—please explain how that helped MUSK ???

So Favre paid back 1.1 million for appearances he didn’t make and now he’s being sued for the interest on that. Why would someone worth $100 million put himself in jeopardy by sorta looking like he might be in the loop of a shady situation?

Aaron Rodgers is already worth twice the amount Favre’s worth, $200 million and he’s scheduled for another $200 million in the next four years for football alone. I wonder what State Farm pays him.

When his first car came out, the one that was soling for 6-figures, the one that put him on the map, dare I say the wealthy were the ones buying them.

Here in Georgia, they were giving away $5k.

I don’t care if it’s $5, neither the government nor taxpayer should be giving anything to anyone for buying anything.
