Mark Aungst, who was facing up to six months in prison and a $5,000 fine, killed himself on July 20, according to his obituary.

Aungst was among the many Jan. 6 demonstrators caught up in a protracted legal process stemming from the chaos of that day. He had pled guilty to a charge of demonstrating or parading in a restricted building and was due to be sentenced in September.

The deceased reportedly walked through the Capitol building taking photographs during the incident.

Had Trump issued a blanket pardon for all arrested relating to J6, he would inadvertently pardon Antifa paramilitaries.

So better everyone goes to prison instead of accidentally pardoning someone who might've been Antifa?

Got it.

Yet he had no moral quandary in pardoning Kwame Kilpatrick, Rod Blagojevich, a bunch of black drug dealers, and a gaggle of Wall Street crooks and swindlers.

Keep making excuses.

Carter didn't pardon draft dodgers by name. He didn't need to. He issued a blanket pardon for the act of draft dodging. Trump could've done the same thing.

It would have covered all our people, but other folks have rightly noted that it would also have covered AntiFA and any government agent provacateurs. That wouldn't be good.

I already got help on this thread.

You blame Trump and expect him to shell a few quid to the tune of hundreds of millions.

Who needs help here?

Obviously you were absent here on the Jan 6 live thread or the month + before. Folks we’re ready and wanting a fight. An inability to accept some, any responsibility would greatly assist your narrative. Otherwise Valium might be helpful.

Trump is going to be lucky if he is not arrested AS IT IS.

I assure you, the powers at the helm right now badly want Trump to help these folks in any way. That would be their slam-dunk.

Trump put those people in prison, didn’t he?

Blame Trump, it’s always his fault.

More often than not it’s never his fault. Ever.

It’s depressing to realize that your own country doesn’t exist anymore. Overhyped charges and excessive punishments only exist for Republicans. It was probably this fact, more than the possible sentence that drove him over the edge.

Because they feel the same as the Democrats; DC is THEIRS, NOBODY BUT NOBODY IS GOING INTO THEIR CLUBHOUSE

...No matter what party the filthy peasants claim to belong to.

I bet Trump does what he can to make it right when he can... but those folks have already been through a lot. I think of them often, as I’m sure Trump does.

Man these people in charge right now are bad.

Trump didn’t raise hundreds of millions in campaign funds.

The people raising $$$ are GOP fund raisers USING TRUMP’S NAME. Trump has been after them from day one. All they need to do is say Trump is the leader of the party and they will send out all manner of marketing materials while asking to donate to Trump 2024 or win a trip to Mar-a-Lago etc. etc. etc.

And he’s not even running yet.

Were you waiting for Trump to say;

"I am pardoning everyone in and around the capitol that day, even though I have no idea who they are, who they work for, who they represent, what their ID's are, what their charges are, and for those unknowns who have yet to be arrested or even ID'd, I'm pardoning them to". ☺

What a hoot!

Jeez Louise. I thought I read in your bio that you are an academic. Clearly your practice is not mathematical in nature.

810 people have been charged as of June 2022. HOWEVER, as of September, 2021, 600 were charged AND OF THOSE 78 WERE BEING HELD. That is 13%.

Using that percentage, of 810, 105 would be in jail now. It is less than that, since 65 of the 810 have already been sentenced. Reducing the jailed numbers by an equivilent percentage, 5%, we get 99 jailed.

Let us stipulate the workload and price of the DC attornies. That leaves 20 hours * 500 dollars * 16 months * 99 jailed = $15,840,000.

President Trump gave out 102 million from 2009 to 2014. Sixteen million for these J6 victims would fall well within his usual charitable giving. I guess Salvation Army and the United Way would lose in 2021.

The Democrats would have had them all arrested anyway and charged with a crime that wasn’t named in the pardon. Even if they had to make something up, there was going to be retribution.

You're right, I'm sure.

Man these people in charge right now are bad.

You had to know how bad things were, when they stole an election in broad daylight (nightlight?) and appointed a dementia patient to the highest office in the land. Add to that the fact they think there are 57 genders, and you know that the left is completely unencumbered by reality.
