I think Ukraine now dwarfs the other recipients.
COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS:
How Does the U.S. Spend Its Foreign Aid?
https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/how-does-us-spend-its-foreign-aid
> Foreign aid is money that is given by the United States government to governments of other nations. <
The United States is a debtor nation. So that sentence really should read:
“Foreign aid is money that is borrowed, then given by the United States government to governments of other nations.”
So we fund our enemies which means we have to spend more on defense, diplomacy, etc.
What a racket.
We saw a “meme” (?) the other day of a 20ish young man holding a sign that read, basically: “When things go really bad in the U.S. nobody will be airlifting or choppering in any food or water or medical help!”
It’s true. No countries will/would seriously come to our aid.
Ukraine - $65 billion and counting
Afghanistan ($4.89 billion) plus $85 billion in military equipment
Propaganda isn’t just lying outright, it includes omission of facts. Your propo omits The Ukraine. Why would you do such a thing?
El Salvador did provide troops for our operations in Iraq. I assume we financed their deployment, but I remember their troops seemed happy and honored to be part of the mission.
We should be ‘hovering’ over these disbursements the way the democrats hover over our military, looking for ways to change things. A one-year hiatus would get the countries attention. I’d start with deportations. Flush our toilet. Make Samoa take in the American Samoans(not the best example) in prison. Iraq and Nigeria are oil rich.
Then there’s NATO. An all-out war without us was beneficial post-WW2. Are we obligated to prevent that a 3rd time?
There are a whole bunch of WHYs on that map.
El Salvador has a few small islands just off their coast-uninhibited. A perfect place to send the imprisoned MS-13 gang bangers. Make the new Devils Island big enough to accommodate the Mexican Norteno’s.
Ukraine is fighting Russians. What is Nigeria doing with 793 million? ... Running phone and internet scams on the elderly?
Gee Whiz, of the Congressional Approved Foreign Aid, Ukraine is Twenty First, and that doesn't include the Tens of Billions in Freebie Weapons.
You should be proud to point out that of the 20 ahead of Ukraine, 17 are Islamocentric or Islamofascist, and only Kenya, South Africa and Columbia allow Christianity practiced openly and freely. The Assad Syrian Government does also, but the US supported and funded Islamic Terrorists in Syria do not.
So of the top 30 Nations receiving US Foreign Aid, only number 30 seriously supports Christianity, ... that being Russia.
Explain that, Mom.
It’s about a disaster on the continental USA.
Russia sends its Muslims to kill Ukraine’s Christians. When they take a mill town they rename the center plaza after Lenin. Explain that fake patriot.
reading comprehension is important in digesting the news.
check dates of foreign spending reports posted.
Uke wasn’t “on fire” until 2022.
For me,I found this article helpful:
Four Ways to Understand the $54 Billion in U.S. Spending on Ukraine
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/05/20/upshot/ukraine-us-aid-size.html :
While the NYT chart helps to give some sense of the size of the aid packages, their actual impact on the federal budget is much smaller because they are meant to be spent over 10 YEARS. (The bulk of the funds is projected to be used sooner.)
Over the next decade, the Ukraine aid represents less than a tenth of one percent of the estimated federal budget. Source: Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022; Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022 (discretionary funding)
A smaller part of the aid will go to domestic agencies to enforce the sanctions and export control measures taken by the government to debilitate Russia’s economy. And some aid will be directed to diplomatic programs that help maintain U.S. citizen services in the area.
It can be hard to comprehend the scale of such sums. Here are four ways to put it in context:
Compared With Other Foreign Aid
Of the $54 billion in total spending by the United States, $31.4 billion can be considered traditional foreign aid.
The $31.4 billion may include some funding that wouldn’t be counted in the agency’s data, which is calculated differently.
Source: ForeignAssistance.gov The new bill may include some funding not covered in the historical data, which is adjusted to 2020 dollars.
Compared With the Entire Federal Budget
The $54 billion in total U.S. aid represents about one percent of this year’s projected federal budget. It’s less than a tenth of the $750 billion the government is projected to spend on defense this year. It’s more than what the government spent last year on highway grants ($43 billion), but less than what it spent on health insurance premium tax credits ($56 billion).
