DeSantis rips Biden in speech, wishes US ‘speedy recovery’ from his presidency
Washington Examiner ^ | July 23, 2022 | Patrick Reilly

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ripped into President Joe Biden during a Friday night speech, wishing “the United States of America a speedy recovery” from his presidency.

DeSantis took the shot at Biden while speaking at Turning Point USA Student Action Summit, where, during his fiery address, he likened the president’s leadership to “a deer in the headlights” who reads from a teleprompter, Fox News reported.

The Florida governor, a leading Republican candidate to make a run at the White House in 2024, also slammed Biden on his approach to energy and immigration policies.

“He came in and cranked the printing presses, kneecapped American energy, and he also opened our southern border,” DeSantis said.

I'm not a "never Trumper", btw, I'll support and vote for whomever my GOP nominates.

Same here. I voted Twice for Trump and will vote for him again if he earns the nomination. He has to earn it though and right now I'm looking elsewhere.

I will not be a part of throwing the country to the Democrats, unlike countless here who have vowed to stay home if Trump isn't the nominee.

This needs to be resolved. DeSantis needs to do this today, no...yesterday. Put a stop to this. Either he is running or he is not running. Shut this media BS down.

DeSantis would be a fool to announce a presidential run before he's won his gubernatorial re-election.

Charlie Crist would bury him with attack ads, "Ron DeSantis DOES NOT want to be your governor!"

DeSantis is no fool.

Wait until he's soundly defeated Crist and then it's game-on.

There is absolutely zero evidence that Trump "learned" anything at all in his first term. He basically stayed the same during all four years, his appointments stayed the same, etc..

A Trump second term would pretty much be exactly the same as the first term.

That was a brilliant line.

No doubt Trump wished he made it.

I don’t see why he should do anything of the sort 2 whole years before he’d actually campaign. Many things can change in the meantime. Look at all the damage caused by Biden in about 18 months.
He’s someone in the Trump mold but he’s much more disciplined and on message. It seems Desantis is a man of action and words making him a viable leader for Repubs for years to come.
He’ll be in the spotlight after Trump’s time has passed.

Will Trump still have his son in law and Ivanka running the show?

Desantis doesn’t seem to me like a guy who would be interested in the donothing VP job.

Yes. He could shut this media driven BS down today by announcing that he will not seek the nomination. By following your lead, he should be dishonest to his fellow Floridians by running a sham election for governor, then bailing immediately after the election to start a run for president. By leaving this an open question, he is already leaving the speculation open to his opponents. You do know that the left is already prepping ads for this, right? He will have to do this sooner or later. Why give the left any opportunity?

A Trump second term would pretty much be exactly the same as the first term.

Trump "adapted" to Washington by firing all the MAGA people who helped get him there and surrounding himself with a gaggle of imbeciles, backstabbers, and deep state stooges. He spent his last year in office handing the country over to Fauci and Birx where they drove his juggernaut economy into the ground, tried to pass a "Platinum Plan" of $500 billion in reparations to blacks, and tossed Covid checks to everyone.

But don't worry. We're being reassured that this time he'll get it right because he's "adapted" to Washington.

It's being reported that Javanka has distanced themselves from Trump's future political ambitions. Probably trying to earn their way back into the good graces of the Manhattan social scene that they were once a part of.

Why the hell should he?

He'd be an outstanding choice for President and right now, his brand is on fire. He's not going to step aside just so the people who believe Trump deserves a coronation will be happy.

DeSantis is waiting to see if and when Trump runs. If Trump runs (very likely) DeSantis won’t.

I will probably vote for DeSantis if he runs, which seems likely. I base it mainly on him not turning off voters who are open to voting for a Republican. DeSantis is better at giving detailed answers to media questions - especially hostile ones. Trump’s age is another factor.

“Now Desantis will carry that mantle and this is why I believe he will be VP.”

DeSantis is a self-confident man with his own ideas. He would not want to play second fiddle to Trump.

Absolutely. I would rather have Deantis. I was a Trump supporter, voted for him twice and I think he was a great President. But I dont want anyone heading into the White House at 78, no matter how healthy. By midterms he will be 80. Lost my mother this past year to dementia. It is a terrible way to go and it doesnt play favorites. This is too big a job for someone in their 80’s.

Yes, I've read that. Fine and patriotic Conservative folks, to be sure, and an exclusive passion for Trump. We all are on the same team, however, and now we chose our next captain.

I'm for a spirited exchange (short of name calling) and through fair voting, nominating a leader of our GOP to face Newsom? (best guess) in the General.

And, I do believe that DeSantis is best equipped carry the election and to lead our fine Nation out of it's current tailspin.

Never mind, people! We have one helluva lot of work to do between now and Election Day 2022.

The Dems and their media henchmen have today launched Covid Scare II, designed to put us all in masks again and to enable the vast cheating that will be necessary for them to retain power.

We have BAGS of time before the 2024 election. It is imperative that we have laser-like focus on defeating Democrats THIS November.

It would be dumb and counter productive for either Trump or DeSantis to announce their intentions right now. The media would be all over it and thus it would taken attention away from the 2022 races, where it needs to be.
