The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday moved a bill banning assault weapons forward but it’s unclear if the legislation has enough support to pass a floor vote.

Democratic Reps. Jared Golden, D-Maine, and Henry Cuellar, D-Texas have said they won’t support the bill while Republican Reps. Chris Jacobs, R-N.Y., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., have said they are open to voting for a ban, according to The Hill. House Democrats have a four-vote margin.

The Assault Weapons Ban of 2021 was advanced in a 25-18 vote but a date for a vote on the House floor has not been set.

This is just a committee vote to *move a proposed bill forward out of committee. It does not make it law. This will never pass. It will never be law. This is all theater

They are self defense weapons, not assault weapons.

Its getting ,ess and less certain That a “relublican” controlled senate will oppose. More than 10 rinos signed onto the last bill the left put forward, putting them over the amount needed to pass, knowing full well that none of the ,aws would do a thing to stop school shootings. Mcconnel first came out and said there ws no way it woild, pass, then he himself signs onto it along with a dozen or so other traitors.

Repubs in New England and California are not really repubs.

They are signing their own separation papers by supporting a gun ban. There’s only so many talking head positions at MSNBCCNNABCCBSNBC, they better watch out, they just might find themselves living next door to Anthony Weiner.

And some of thought that we would never have a Muslim or a Drooling Basement Dweller in our White House.

Funny how that works, eh?

Former two-term governor of Maine Paul LePage would disagree with your comment.

He was term-limited in 2018, but is running again this Fall.

When he was in office, he was the most conservative governor in the country.

The “crawl” on Stephen Bannon’s War Room yesterday stated that the bill did not have enough votes to pass.

What is the NEW definition of an “assault weapon” ?

In 1994 Clinton signed an Assault Weapons ban. It was defined as a weapon that could switch between semi automatic and fully automatic fire.

Is the new definition any long gun that has a clip holding more than 5 shells?

I saw clips on Twitter of the House debate on this bill. The democrats were saying some of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard. Did you know a pistol brace works like a bump stock? They actually made that claim. Also, when someone is shot with a .223 round they basically blow up and there is nothing left to identify. M1 Garands and SKS rifles are ancient relics not worthy of discussion. I don’t think one democrat knew what the hell they were talking about.

My 1950’s Winchester Model 61 22 long rifle holds about 12 shells in the tube. Is that now an “assault rifle” ?

This would also get a nice USSC challenge immediately and I doubt it would survive the challenge.

Besides, who would give up their weapons? I can only imagine Florida’s governor DeSantis getting the Florida legislature to pass an “Assault Weapons Protection” law.

What is completely InCorrect about it? The term was used to describe weapons capable of fully automatic shooting mode.

#### It does not make it law. This will never pass#####

You really trust these traitor Republicans? You have more “faith” than me——I do not trust these idiots at all. But I digress....the point is, I will not comply with these tyrants. Only tyrants take guns from citizens....
