Nitrogen calculations released: target can also be achieved with targeted buyout (Netherlands-Climate Change)
NOS News Netherlands ^ | 7/20/2022 | NOS News

Following earlier reports in NRC, the Ministry of Finance has released calculations by officials about the consequences of nitrogen measures. According to the newspaper, this shows that in a targeted buyout, 11,200 farms may have to stop and 17,600 farmers have to partially reduce their livestock.

According to NRC, the documents show a clear political choice. The calculations would show a lower nitrogen could have been chosen for agriculture. That goal must be supplemented with the contribution of industry, aviation and other sectors...

The brutal cost of climate policy laid out in documents from the Dutch Finance Ministry.

They lay out worst for farmers then switch to the notion it won't be so bad if other sectors of the economy are squeezed to reduce their emissions.

All bad for someone depending on who you target for emissions cuts.

CO2 isn’t working to scare people anymore so now it’s Nitrogen.

Can’t wait until the leftees announce that O2 has got to be eliminated from the atmosphere.

"...The air is mostly nitrogen."

Correct.
Therefore, saving the Earth from 'excess' nitrogen will require drastic measures -

Heck, yeah. That stuff is flammable as all get out.

If we got rid of oxygen, we’d cut out all forest fires.

I would love to see someone do one of those surveys on college campuses with a petition to cut O2 levels because of how dangerous the gas O2 is.

As some have noted air is composed mostly of Nitrogen N2. What these communicators are mostly likely referring to are Nitrogen oxides - nitrates or nitrites - NOx. Or possibly including ammonia - NH4. All of which comes from fertilizers and fecal matter. The level of use and runoff can be altered by the methods of application and amount. I have no idea of their current practices, how much it can be reduced.

It’s the same ole GlobalClimateWarmingChange BS but in order to fix the nitrogen problem farmers have to stop fertilizing their fields or, preferably, stop farming.

They are already running farmers out of business in Europe on this basis thus the farmer protests in the Netherlands.

Atmospheric lightening creates N2 used as fertlizer by plants.

How much nitrogen ‘fertilizer’ is created by lightning?

Each bolt of lightning carries electrical energy that is powerful enough to break the strong bonds of the nitrogen molecule in the atmosphere. Once split, the nitrogen atoms quickly bond to oxygen in the atmosphere, forming nitrogen dioxide. The atmosphere's composition is 78 percent nitrogen, but the nitrogen in the air is not available to our bodies

Along with the lightning in the cloud are cloud droplets and raindrops. Nitrogen dioxide dissolves in water, creating nitric acid, which forms nitrates. The nitrates fall to the ground in raindrops and seep into the soil in a form that can be absorbed by plants.

Lightning does add nitrogen to the soil, as nitrates dissolve in precipitation. This helps plants, but microorganisms in the soil do the vast majority of nitrogen fixation.
