LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Anti-abortion activists from across the country converged in southern New Mexico on Tuesday to protest relocation plans by the Mississippi clinic at the center of the court battle that overturned Roe v. Wade, but New Mexico’s governor vowed not to back down from her support for access to abortions.
Democrat Michelle Lujan Grisham, who is running for reelection, tweeted hours before the protest that access remains legal and safe in her state. “New Mexicans understand the right to make personal decisions about one’s own reproductive health care — and we won’t go back,” she wrote.
The crowd gathered in triple-digit temperatures near the location where Jackson Women’s Health Organization plans to open its new clinic next week. Some held signs that read “Pray to End Abortion” and “Vote Your Values.” They heard from the leader of a local Catholic parish, a university student group and activists from Texas and Mississippi who talked about their experiences shutting down abortion clinics elsewhere.
New Mexico’s Democratic-controlled Legislature and Democratic governor support access to abortion. State lawmakers last year repealed a dormant 1969 law that outlawed most abortion procedures as felonies, ensuring access to abortion even after the Supreme Court rolled back the national guarantee.

Gov. Grisham has vowed to provide free dumpsters to the clinic for disposing of the remnants of aborted fetuses after all the profitable body parts have been sold to the Federal Government and Magic Faux Meat producers.
The Democrats have the blacks and the Indians believing the nonsense and convinced of the necessity of killing off their preborn. The Hispanics are beginning to wise up.
Las Cruces is just north of El Paso. Get your abortion and buy legal pot all in the same afternoon.
I love it. These abortion mills are going to start shopping around for new locations and they are going to get about as good of a reception as if a porn theater was being put in the neighborhood. Maybe worse - porn theaters don’t kill people.
Other proud moments of our fine state of New Mexico includes refusal to release slaves (”peons”) kept after the civil war because of the Spanish tradition.
In response, Congress passed the Peonage Act of 1867 on March 2, 1867, which said: “Sec 1990. The holding of any person to service or labor under the system known as peonage is abolished and forever prohibited in the territory of New Mexico, or in any other territory or state of the United States; and all acts, laws, … made to establish, maintain, or enforce, directly or indirectly, the voluntary or involuntary service or labor of any persons as peons, in liquidation of any debt or obligation, or otherwise, are declared null and void.”
Such a fine state we have.
It looks like somebody is desperate to continue killing children.
