Stephen King praises war criminal Stepan Bandera as a 'great man' during call with Russian pranksters

World-renowned author Stephen King, best known for the “Shining” and “Carrie,” was duped by Russian pranksters into believing he was in a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where he expressed his admiration for holocaust architect and war criminal Stepan Bandera.

The pranksters Vovan and Lexus reported the video call with the U.S. author and outspoken liberal in an undated video published this week.

King, who appears in a pro-Ukraine hat and t-shirt expresses his admiration for the Ukrainian president and Bandera after the pranksters bring up his name in the call.

“They are people who really love Ukraine. It’s not Nazis. It’s Azov,” says one of the pranksters, referring to the neo-Nazi paramilitary organization, Azov Battalion. “Of course they love some people like [Stepan] Bandera, our national hero. So what do you think of Bandera?”

“He was in the Second World War, and he fought against the Soviet Union,” the prankster continued. “But, yeah, he had some crimes, but it’s not so big crimes. It’s of course [accidental], [they were] were crimes against Jews. But it’s really important to keep him opposed to Putin and his propaganda.”

“Well yes, I mean there are always… you can always find things against people to pull them down,” replied King. “Washington and Jefferson were slave owners. That doesn’t mean they didn’t do many good things for the United States of America.”

“There are always people who have flaws – we’re human,” King continued. “There are things that we do that are bad choices, and there are things that we do that are great choices. So, on the whole, Bandera is a great man and you’re a great man. And Viva Ukraine.”

Earlier this year, Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland expressed her solidarity with Ukraine while marching alongside a group of Ukrainian neo-Nazi Banderites. She was photographed holding up a red and black scarf tied to the Banderite movement.

During the 1940s, Bandera led the Organization of Ukrainian nationalists, which was directly involved in the massacre of up to 60,000 Poles during WWII, killing around 133,000 ethnic Jews, Poles, and Russians in the region. More than a million Jews were killed in Ukraine during the Holocaust.

King should STFU about anything other than writing books.

Most likely- I had no idea who it is....But instead of admitting hes ignorant of the subject, he pretensiously, disingenuously feigns interest and knowledge.

A-HA! And there’s the POINT! Poroshenko is a villain... Zelenskyy is NOT!

“Poroshenko is a villain... Zelenskyy is NOT!”

So Zelensky is not a villain because he didn’t bring in the Nazis, just left them there in his government?

Interesting standard to hold him by.

True. My point is not that Stephen King is not a blowhard, but only that this story does not add to any evidence that King is an anti-semite or a Nazi, or that he secretly regards Zelenskyy as either.

Poroshenko has not been “left there” in Zelenskyy’s government. But even if there are villans in Zelenskyy’s government, he’s not a villain if he doesn’t approve of there villainy. For instance, villains abounded in the U.S. government in spite of Trump. Does this mean someone should bomb the shit out of every U.S. city to rid the U.S. of any trace of Trump?

They’re all a bunch of greedy, crooked, grifting slimebags. Including Zelensky.

Yeah, her grandpa was an actual Nazi in WWII.

He run on bring peace to Ukraine and betrayed his promise.

His abandoned doing what is the best interests of his people and allowed his countrymen and country to be destroyed in a war that absolutely preventable.

Trying to tear down Trump by equating him with the government of Ukraine, which has NAZI UNITS operating in its military won’t get far with me.

As to your question - if Zelensky’s government is unwilling, or more likely unable, to rid his government of these Nazis who are terrorizing innocent civilians, then yes, he’ll get some help in it, and it is warranted as far as I’m concerned. Should have done the same to Germany in the early/mid 1930s, also.

That's absurd. The Neo-Nazis and Ukrainian nationalists have total control over Zelenksy. And, whatever control they don't have over him, "the liberal world order" does.

Any sane leader of Ukraine would have rejected NATO membership and pushed to implement the Minsk Agreement that Ukraine signed off on that would have ended the eight-year civil war. Donetsk and Lugansk would have the same autonomy states in the US have but would have remained part of Ukraine.

Zelensky caved to the neo-Nazi/Ukrainian nationalist element and to "the liberal world order" and its Ukrainian citizens suffering.

“Not to mention we have an entire nest of neo-Nazi Banderites right here.”

If you think there are neo-nazis on the site, name them and tell the mods. Mods here ban neo-nazis quite ruthlessly. So make your case and let’s see.

Otherwise, you’re just spewing propaganda as usual.

What Neo-Nazis have any control over Zelensky?

And what do you mean by “Ukrainian nationalists”? You use that term like it’s some horrible thing, but does it mean anything other than people who don’t want to be subsumed by a foreign power? You sound like a European One-World socialist the way you say that... and in the next breath, you say, “”And, whatever control they don’t have over him, “the liberal world order” does.”

Your literally accusing Zelenskyy of polar-opposite positions... like a Soviet bot.

Russia outlawed Nazis in 2001, so there are no known units in its military. Ukraine didn’t outlaw them, but will soon have it done for them.

I have no problem admitting that is true. My problem is, Russia also has neo-Nazis who murder Russian citizens with Putin’s ok, but you all just ignore it.

My support is with the people. Not the president of Ukraine.

BWAHAHAHAHA! You’ll believe anything won’t you?

Wagner Group are Neo-Nazis and Putin’s go to mercenaries to do his dirty work, including in Ukraine. Then there is the Spartan Brigade, also Neo-Nazis, and fighting for Russia in Ukraine since 2014. So that means there are at least twice as many Neo-Nazi outfits fighting for Putin as there are for Ukraine.

What Neo-Nazis have any control over Zelensky?

They would KILL him or threaten another revolution if he had agreed to enforced the Minsk Agreement or didn't agree to continue the civil war on Donbas.

Yes, they have that much power and they are bankrolled by oligarchs.

https://www.vox.com/2015/3/23/8279397/kolomoisky-oligarch-ukraine-militia

Kolomoisky funds and directs a large private militia that has been helping the Kiev government fight against the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. Militias like his — and there are dozens of them — are a source of deep concern to analysts who believe they could threaten Ukraine's long-term stability.

###

Kolomoisky, an oligarch who is also the governor of Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, is a significant backer of the pro-Kiev private militias fighting in the country's east. He funds the Dnipro Battalion, a private army that, according to the Wall Street Journal, has 2,000 battle-ready fighters and another 20,000 in reserve. Newsweek reported that Kolomoisky has funded other militia groups, as well.

The conflict has empowered pro-Ukraine militias like Kolomoisky's because the Ukrainian military was too weak to fight the separatist insurgency on its own. When Russia annexed Crimea in early 2014, Ukraine had only about 6,000 combat-ready troops. The paramilitary "volunteers" bolstered the fighting forces, funded in part by private donations from wealthy oligarchs. Bands of politically motivated thugs, dating back to before the conflict, grew into more substantial militarized battalions. There are now an estimated 30 "volunteer" militias fighting the separatists in eastern Ukraine.
