Mulvaney: I Hope Trump Doesn’t Run — GOP Doesn’t Need His ‘Baggage’
Breitbart ^ | 19 Jul 2022 | PAM KEY

Posted on 07/20/2022 7:48:10 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

Former Trump acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said Tuesday on “CNN Tonight” that he hoped former President Donald Trump doesn’t run for president in 2024.

Anchor Laura Coates asked, “If he were to run for re-election yet again, we don’t know if he intends to do that. If he is the RNC nominee, do you intend to vote for him?”

Mulvaney said, “I am one of those Republicans who hopes the former President Trump doesn’t run. In all fairness, we don’t need him anymore. He changed our party. We have a lot of folks, a new generation of folks, Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, go down the list of folks who could give us the same that Donald Trump gave without the baggage. As a Republican, I am thinking if the election were on today and Joe Biden was the nominee for the Democrats or Kamala Harris or Gavin Newsom, there is probably only one mainstream Republican who could lose, and that’s Donald Trump. Knowing what I know, I would be hard pressed to support Donald Trump again.”

He added, “I think we moved beyond Donald Trump clearing the field. I think that is one thing that the January 6 committee has accomplished.”

He concluded, “To the extent they wanted to wound him politically, I think that happened. There has been polling data recently, for the first time, says that a majority of Republican primary voters would prefer somebody other than Donald Trump. That’s a big change over the course ever the last six or eight weeks.”

Sounds like Mulvaney should create a Friends Group with some of the NeverTrumper posters on FreeRepublic.

‘Baggage’ = Great economy, giant steps to peace in the ME, secure border, global respect from allies and others, etc....

Overturning Roe V. Wade is considered “baggage” to RINOs. Not a major accomplishment. “Baggage.”

Trump made the mistake of not doing it the good old GOP way - lie to the Republican base and then preemptively surrender for fat stacks of cash.

We’ll be getting more and more Leftist attempts at Trump vs. DeSantis. It think DeSantis especially should shut it down wherever and however he can.

Meanwhile, we America Patriot’s don’t give s sh#t what the RINO’s in the GOP need. We care about what America needs and America needs Trump to help her right her ship of state.

This guy doesn't get it as he is still enamored with the GOPe.

Mike Pence? I don't think so, he is finished. When he had the change to act he refused to. He didn't have to contradict the Constitution, all he had to do was to say "Wait a minute, we need to sort this out"...but he failed because he ultimately had no honor or courage.

I know some people say. that someone such as DeSantis are in alignment with Trump’s policies, but don’t have Trump’s baggage.

But, do any of you really believe, that the Democrats and the media wouldn’t go after DeSantis full force, if DeSantis is the nominee in 2024? Wouldn’t they go after him just as strongly as they would go after Trump, if Trump runs again?

I know there is the “baggage” issue, but, do we really want to run campaigns and select nominees for office, based on what the N.Y Times and MSNBC will say about a candidate??

Trump is the only one consistently fighting for what the people want. That’s the “baggage”. NONE of the others are fighting that’s why Trump is forced to do it all himself. The others are, quite frankly, cowardly politicians trying angle themselves. Trump is a citizen trying to save the Republic. EVERY other “candidate” is concerned about winning the next election (yes, DeSantis fans, him included). Trump is concerned about saving the Republic. The politicians (in case you’re wondering) are not going to save the Republic.

Let’s see....

- This sniveling coward runs to CNN so the liberal media controllers can make him “Queen For A Day” when he says exactly what they want to hear.

- He equates another sniveling coward (Mike Pence) with Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.

- Only an idiot believes *anything* the J6 Kangaroo Court Lynch Mob says... but Mulvaney is thoroughly convinced!

“attempts at Trump vs. DeSantis. It think DeSantis especially should shut it down”

Trump and DeSantis both will be a the Turning Point event this week. This is the PERFECT opportunity for them to be buddy-buddy, be a coordinated force, and clear the air once and for all.

Very stupid. The large increase in Hispanic voters is directly due to Trump. Hispanics prefer manly men, and feminine women. They dispise squishes. Look at the strong, conservative Hispanic women, all are very feminine.
