Firefighters tackling blazes which have ripped through homes and buildings in London have described the conditions as "absolute hell" on what is the UK's hottest day on record.
Residents were evacuated, people were taken to hospital and a major incident was declared by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) which was "under immense pressure" after a "huge surge" in blazes across the capital as temperatures topped 40C (104F) for the first time.

Most people don’t realize the relatively small number of accurate temperature records going not very far back. Which is understandable as they’ve been lied to by omission and commission by government paid scientists with an agenda and the media.

“Temperature at the airport is 88 degrees, which is stupid, man, ‘cause I don’t know anybody who lives at the airport.”
“Al Sleet, the hippy-dippy weatherman”
My long time favorite.
“Sing along with Mitch”
Dry grass can spontaneously combust when it’s temperature reaches 572°F.
Is it that hot over there?
The Lucifer and his man Antichrist. Most familiar with the fire realm.
The Lazarus and the wealthy man record.
Well done! Great movie!
“Nowhere in the UK got anywhere near 100° on those occasions.”
Wrong.
But let’s say you’re right.
So?
You’re a true believer, aren’t you?
“Hottest in UK history?” Really? Why should we even believe that? The media lies about so many things! They called a large Antarctic iceberg “unprecedented” and “proof” of “climate change” a few years ago. I looked one up in my 1984 Guinness Book of World Records. It broke off an Antarctic ice shelf back in the 1950s and was SIX times as large as the one the media called “unprecedented.” I took a picture of the Guinness entry and posted it to Facebook as proof of what liars the “mainstream” propaganda ministry are.
Electrification, batteries, solar heat, wires ...hum.
What came first, the fires or the higher temperature reading?
EC
I’d be pleased to see your evidence that 100°+ was ever confirmed by a recognised weather station in the UK before 25th July 2019, when 38.7C (101.6F) was recorded at Cambridge Botanic Gardens.
And a true believer about what?
And so? - what? Nothing at all, except that the last two days have been exceptionally hot, significantly hotter than anything which has been reliably recorded in modern times (ie centuries-scale). And temperatures have been consistently recorded in the UK for longer, and in more locations, than more or less anywhere else, largely because of the many scientifically-minded clergymen in the 19th century who made a daily record taken in the porch of their parish church (Stevenson screens not introduced till the 1880s, of course). 19th century mercury thermometers, many of which survive, were pretty accurate.
The latter. Temperature records were already widely broken the previous day, Tuesday was hotter still..
Next up we will here our stupid politicians saying climate change has caused these fires
40 was reached only at a few of locations, including Heathrow Airport. But the previous high of 38.7 (Cambridge July 2019) was exceeded at 34 locations in the east and southeast. Highest recorded also in Scotland and Wales. |I’m in the southwest, which was significantly cooler - 32°C.
If you want comprehensive info on all this uncluttered by mass media hype, look at the reputable weather sites.
“...significantly cooler - 32°C.”
For you folks in Rio Linda:
The above temperature equals - 25.6 degrees Fahrenheit...
However, if one realizes that the - is a dash and not a negative sign, it translates into a fraction below 90 Fahrenheit.
Why? Its 40 deg...folks trying to stay warm, maybe..
;]
You have wittily misread my dash as a minus.
